Any one got any tips?
We are going to Menorca soon and want to be prepared to the mossies and jelly fish. Has anyone got any good tips on remeidies if we get bitten?
for mozzie bites you dont want to scratch them.. you can get a pen that helps to stop them itching... but you need it with you at all times..
jellyfish..?.. er I belive a certain bodily fluid helps if nothing else is to hand..

I have read about a thing called aspivenin, available from boots £14.49 each or on offer at 3 for 2 at mo.
On another forum, members rated it very highly.

Hi there, I got stung by a jellyfish a couple of years ago in Majorca , i didnt get a bad reaction to it and it was just like a nettle sting but another guy on the same beach needed hospital treatment . I found this advice whilst browsing on the web today about it.
Jellyfish Sting Treatment
Rinse with seawater. Avoid fresh water because it will increase pain. Do not rub the wound or apply ice to it.
For classic box jellyfish stings, apply topical acetic acid (vinegar) or isopropyl alcohol.
The site i found this on goes into more detail but i think a lot of it applies to more tropical destinations

I used it in Egypt last month - I have a fear of jellyfish after getting stung as a child.

I hear the wee wee works but you would look a sight on the beach! As does the vinegar! but if all else fails, wear trousers and a long sleeved top!! (will do the trick for jelly fish and mozzies!!)
usually the jelly fish in menorca come in just before a storm, so watch the weather after there have been sightings!

Only time we saw any jellies were the day after a storm, only little ones at that. my daughter got stung, wash, vinegar, sorted.
Don't let it put anyone off, it's a minor thing.
