i have only seen them once over there n that was when i was snorkling off cala conta, panicked and swam back in asap!!!
where do jellyfish usually hang out is it by the front or further in so if we was on a booze cruise and get in sea on one of them are they likely too be around there, im a big baby lol and dont wanna get stung.
Any where, although they do seem to like areas rocky areas, although I have also seen them off beaches. They can be a varying depths as well, so can be quite close to shore. From what I understand even beached and dead ones can still offer a sting, so it's just best to watch out for them. There not a big deal, just be mindful of them. I use to live on Ibiza and I have been on holiday there so many times, I love swimming in the sea and I have only seen them on 3 seperate occasions, which is a low percentage of the times I have been swimming off Ibiza, again, Jellyfish are a reality of many beaches around the world, not just in the Balearics, including in England.
Can honestly say that I never clapped eyes on one jelly fish. We were on Es Pouet Beach
Hope all goes well

wouldnt be too worried. very few jellyfish close in to the beaches.
if you do get stung a bit of salty water / vinegar / ice does the trick.
I came back last Saturday from Puerto San Miguel, and the 2 years previous i have never seen a jelly fish on the shores, until this year where there were quite a few, and the sea was deserted. However one man decided to go in and catch them which was quite good to actually see them in the bucket after
mind you, today's papers in UK were telling the tale of a swarm (?) of jellyfish in (I think) a canal near Wigan. It's global warming I tell you!!
Yes. But it's a UK paper, so the "swarm of jellyfish" was probably, at best, a couple of tiny dead ones or at worst, plastic bags.
And don't forget that we are talking of WIGAN here!

What's the current situation concerning Jellyfish - I'll be heading for Salinas on Thursday - will it be ok to go into the water ?
Jellyfish are a common problem on coastlines worldwide, its not a new nor a recently increased problem. There is a very good chance that you will have absouetly no encounter with them at all, even smaller chance that you will get stung. If you see jellyfish, which I have only on 3 occasions and I used to live on Ibiza, then my advice is to calmly get out of the water and swim elsewhere.
also, if you do get stung, what do you do - can i buy anything in this country to take with me - paranoid mother
Hello julieross, First of all my family and i have been going to Ibiza for quite a few years now and in that time there has only been 2 of us stung by jellyfish, it happened last October to my brother & myself while we were snorkling...It was quite painful and the pain lasted for a couple of hours, I was given some cream by the hotel, which eased the pain...Im sure you can buy some sort of cream in the Uk to take with you, But i wouldnt worry about it to much...If there are any jellyfish around someone will normally let you know, I hope this has not worried you to much, like i said weve been going there for years from May through to October...Happy Holidays...
I work for a well known chemist chain so may ask the pharmacist if there's a cream i can buy here to take with me!
Thanks again
ok best thing to do if no cream is wee on it.or use vinagar.but dont go to far out in the sea,
I've swum in nearly every sea in ibiza, and the jellyfish tend to be located in the southern and southwestern beaches in the summer, but don't take this as the rule, in the winter the jellyfish are on all the coastlines, if you do get stung the lifeguards have a special liquid to put on it.
Seriously though, avoid swimming in the sea directly after a storm or during rough surf. This is when we have seen most Jellyfish in Ibiza, it's not a particularly big problem on the island but in our experience rough seas does seem to sweep them to the shoreline more.
Hi, just to let you know that ive just brought some cream for Jellyfish stings, its called "After bite " and I brought it from Asda you can use it for other stinging insects aswell...Hope this helps...
