I am thinking about booking the Hyatt for our honeymoon ( in 5 weeks time), the hotel looks gorgeous, but can't find many pictures of the beach.
Does anyone have any pictures they could download for me?

Many Thanks

Hi Sam

There were no newspapers. Instead we had a free drink everyday. It made quite a difference to the bill after a week's stay!

hi lorraine
i dont know if i have photos of the beach i will check and post if i can find any, but from memory (we were there 2003) the beach is long and sandy and quite wide, coral when you walk into the sea - our rooms were right on the beach between the lagoon and just in front of the pool with the bar, they were fab our veranda faced the sea and we were on the ground floor - i think from what i have been told the hotel have built a jetty over the coral now so its easier to enter the sea for snorkelling. we were there in march and the beach was windy and blowing the sand up so stayed by the pool for sunbathing. you can walk along the beach to the other hotels further along - the hyatt is the first of i think 3 hotels.

Thanks for your message. If you do find any photo's that would be great, but from the sounds of it, it is really nice anyway.

Going to give it another couple of weeks and then book something, trying to get a really cheap deal. Do you remember who you booked with. At the moment, Longwood seems to be the cheapest.

not sure who we booked with but it was off teletext. it was around £299 for 1 week half board for 4 peops in 2 rooms i think we had a bargain. only drawback we had to fly from gatwick which is a 3/4 hour run from south wales.

Daniell, also check Eclipse Direct and Libra. And take print-out of net price to high street or phone direct and bargain hard!!

We're travelling next thursday and I want to email the hotel and ask for good rooms (we have the Hyatt membership). We have a two year old, so we don't want to be too high up, but we don't want to be on the ground floor either. A view would be good, and I don't want to be too far from the restaurants, bars and pools.

Any ideas which room I should be asking for? Thanks in advance.

Out of those who actually stayed at this hotel, who got tummy upsets? I'm worried about my daughter getting sick. Any idea on what to avoid?

Any feedback would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks. :)

Hi, the Hyatt sounds wonderful. Definately think this will be the hotel for our week at Whit.

I read that some of you have used other hotels facilities such as the swimming pools and you say they don`t mind. Did you take your Hyatt towels with you, could they not tell you were not staying there? I ask because I think someone mentioned the Marriot has a slide and Katie would love that, but I think I like the sound of the Hyatt better for our actual base.

Thanks for any more info you can give me.

Hi,

Is anyone flying to Hyatt in Taba from Manchester, and if so could you please tell me what day the flight is and what company you used. I seem to be drawing a blank at the moment, trying to get some prices but can only get Monday flights which are no good (must be Thurs, Fri or Sat) or some companies only seem to go from the London Area.

Thanks.

Hi to everyone! Just returned from 2 weeks at Hyatt Taba. Hope this report not too long to post here! (Sorry Briar if so or if its in wrong place?)
We really had a fabulous holiday; found everything to be exactly as expected following all the great advice and reports from everyone here. Definitely the best hotel in the area we thought, after checking out the others on shuttle bus "pub crawl"! (although the lobby/reception at the Marriot is perhaps nicer). Very quiet and relaxing holiday indeed. We didn't get bored despite the lack of "resort" area, only thing we missed was to be able to eat out in local restaurants.

Airport/Flight/Reps: No problems with FCA. (Although inflight entertainment system broken on return flight boooo !!) At the airport officials explained to write Sinai only across back of completed immigration forms if not travelling outside the area. We had of course already done ours, although it might be worth mentioning that we were asked to sign the statement as well. Coach journey in dark so we couldn't see a thing! Check in well organised and luggage quickly taken to rooms. Never saw the FC Rep once (welcome meeting was over at 3 Corners and we didn't feel inclined to spend half our first day over there). It seemed to us that the 3 Corners is the camp for the Libra/First Choice/Cosmos, the Hyatt being exclusively Longwoods/Peltours. Their reps were very friendly and always on hand even though we hadn't travelled with them. Note: We didn't get a free welcome drink either..and whereas the send off party for Longwoods/peltours guests included managers and Chefs"¦we got a couple of the Russian dancers and a few lower grade staff .! Actually we didn't think much of the 3 Corners, rather concrete and soulless, and rather rowdy with teenagers on the AI booze, but it's a personal choice, no offence meant here!

Hotel/Rooms:
We loved the hotel especially the beautiful grounds. Even larger than expected, covering 4.5kms. Apparently if you walk all round the perimeter at a brisk pace it meets your daily exercise requirement! Would like to say that we did this every day .but well"¦it was so very hot"¦! We thought that the pools were probably amongst the best we had seen, lots of space, plenty of sun beds etc. (Note: nice cotton covers on the sunbed mattresses, changed regularly whereas the Marriott has sweaty vinyl covers). Our gold card requested upgrade room was in A block, it was large, spacious, plenty of storage and hanging space. View of free form pool with sea in background. Bathroom clean with a very efficient shower, lots of hot water. Very similar to standards in say Goa or Kenya we thought. Some people might be disappointed if they compare with equivalent in UK/USA. Beach towels nice and thick, using token system for exchange although we chose to keep overnight (useful on bathroom floor!) and swap for fresh as we walked past on way to favoured pool side spot). Service slow but cheerful and we certainly didn't want for anything. We just chilled and went with the flow. (Some fellow guests were more complaining .perhaps we were easy to please. But after all..it was Egypt, not a Sandals Spa?).
The only niggle we did have re service was that the room cleaning was only just adequate"¦each day there seemed to be items missing etc necessitating us to ask for something"¦"¦eg. one day we only had one towel the comp shampoo disappeared etc the floor wasn't swept"¦I am ready and happy to tip as standard practice for good service but it almost felt like that we were obliged to tip before we even got basic service it seemed the bigger the tip the more care they took"¦and I was slightly concerned with this attitude. Some people were tipping quite large amounts daily"¦"¦ . 100 Egypt £ a time even for pool/sunbed guy, perhaps I am meaner than I thought"¦oh well

Food:
Enjoyed the food, plenty of choice. As others described, the Breads and Desserts are particularly good. Yes, it did get boring after a while, but we always find that with any HB buffet style menus in any hotel. Some people were complaining that the food was terrible, but this seemed to centre on the lack of large portions of meat and fish, steaks etc. Most meat or chicken was casseroled or stirfried in very tasty sauces. The vegetable dishes were especially imaginative, many choices, something different each day. Stuffed Courgettes, Pumpkin, Aubergines loved the Cumin Roasted Carrots. Plainer veg. eg. Cauliflower/broccoli as well for those alarmed by fancy veggies! It was nice that the chefs were always on hand to explain anything and encourage us to try different things. Didn't use our HB credit in any of the other 3 restaurants because we didn't meet anyone who recommended it worth the extra money to do so. We checked the menus out which seemed to be similar to the food in the main restaurant anyway. We found that we didn't need much at lunchtime most days, but when we did have meals it was very good especially the Pizza in the El Fresco bar. A medium between 2 was more than adequate (70 Egypt £). Most people helped themselves to fresh fruit and the occasional bun from the breakfast buffet to snack on during the day naughty perhaps, but everyone seemed to be doing it.

Costs:
Expect city prices rather than resort prices and you will know what to expect. In fact we spent less than expected (£280 UK sterling for 2 of us for 2 weeks and that included a snorkelling trip approx £79 for 2) As not big drinkers, we didn't need to buy any alcohol, (thanks to our duty free supplies) so that probably kept the cost down. All soft drinks were 14 Egypt £ (standard 330 ml cans). A good tip is that the Hyatt shop sells chilled 1.5litre bottles of coke/diet coke, sprite etc for 16 Egypt £"¦"¦! Bottle water 1.5 litre same price in shop/bars/restaurants at 12 Egypt £.
Found the shops at the 3 Corners, and yes things were cheaper there ie bottle of water only 50 .but a bit a of a faff to bother really. And who wants luke warm water during day anyway, so we just bought some for the room when we it was convenient to do so. We took English money and changed as we wanted .do check out the 3 gorgeous pusscats that live in the bank! Well loved pampered and cared for big fluffy pedigree pusscats!

Health matters:
Hubby and me ate everything including any salads we wanted, ice in drinks, no restrictions whatsoever"¦and no tummy trubs at all! Only one of four of us had any problem and it was hard to work out why, seeing as we all ate/drank same things. Only likely explanation is that unaffected had travelled more widely to similar places, so perhaps our guts already recognised the foreign coliforms etc so didn't react! Who knows? It certainly wasn't the cleanliness standards in the hotel. And we don't buy into the aircon theory either. Anyone who has experienced Florida in a high summer heatwave will know that you are continually in and out of glacial aircon there and don't get sick"¦so we gave up trying to work out the why in the end. Pharmacy at 3 corners is helpful and easy to get to using Waterworld shuttle bus (free every half hour between all hotels till 1am)

Entertainment:
Nothing different to report from anyone else"¦the Russian dancers, Skirt man, and Belly dancer are already legendary! 3 different shows rotated/repeated .it passes an hour or so! Internet access (55 Egypt £ for 1 hr) Book in advance in the fitness club Olympus. Only one PC, slow dial up connection but it worked well enough. And there is a small "book library" in there also!

Snorkelling good off the Hyatt jetty, although we were slightly disappointed here, perhaps we expected too much having been to the Maldives in the past. Fish less in numbers than we expected. Apparently it is normal for Sept? but most days it was quite rough and choppy in the sea, reducing visibility. We only saw the green flag a couple of times. And it is sad but we unfortunately saw a lot of rubbish in the sea, so many floating plastic bags was told by waterworld rep that the rubbish drifts over from Israel? And a lot of dead coral. Unfortunately not everyone is as careful of the marine environment as they should be..

Didn't go on any trips (too far .too expensive for us"¦and we had gone for rest and chill out), but spoke to people who did and they all enjoyed very much. (Apart from the Cairo trip because too much time taken up with souvenir shop visits)
We did however go out for the day on the Snorkelling boat to Farun Island from Waterworld and thought it was excellent nice day out, drinks and lunch included"¦recommend :D
Overall conclusions"¦great value, fab weather everything we wanted and more! Would certainly return but probably only for a "quickie" week"¦mainly because we like to go to somewhere different each time so many other places in the world to see yet!

Regards
Lyn

Just booked 7 nights here in august for £389 per person.

Quick question, which is the better room to have between a lagoon room and a seafront room?

I know the lagoon rooms are priced higher but what are the actual differences?

Money isn't an issue since I've managed to secure the basic booking for a lot less than I was expecting!

If it helps matters I have a Hyatt gold card and the hotel have been informed that the holiday is for a honeymoon. I would hope that this will aid me when it comes to getting upgrade prices.

Lagoon views are ALSO sea views.

However sea-view doesn't guarantee one DIRECTLY overlooking the sea, but it might mean its an angled view from your balcony.

We've stayed at the Hyatt twice and love it, going back again this September, a Lagoon view would be lovely but my partner loves the sea-view from in amongst the gardens.

p.s get Mohammed to do you a personally made 'spicy' pizza in the restaurant, top-notch guy and top-notch chef

Yes, but are you remembering to differentiate between a 'seaview' and a 'seafront' room as well?

I would have thought there was a significant difference to be had.

Does anyone have a contact e`mail address for Hyatt, would like to try and request an upgrade with our Gold Card. Going in 3 weeks and counting, can`t wait.

Thanks
