Just to let everybody know whos jetting off out there the weather was fab - not too hot but warm enough to sunbath and get a tan.
Was totally heaving (i went 24th dec- 1st jan) havent seen it busy for quite a while, think new year is the new summer over there. Seemed loads of folk arrived around 28th/29th.
Found a fantastic mexican restaurant upstairs from the Safari centre that i'd totally recommend and also a new bar i found called Magic bar opposite the safari centre - amazing inside with a great soul singer on
Hope you all have as much fun as i did - any questions just ask
Looking at booking for next new year. Do you know who can book flights for at the moment.
New year is ace - tenerife is defo getting busier at new year as the years go on - ive been a regular visitor to tenerife since i was 19 in 1993 and this new year was the busiest ive ever seen it and that even beats factory fortnight back in the day!
Its jumping on NYE, however this year i had a slightly more quieter one as im 15 weeks preg!! we went to the soul suite for NYE and was heaving with ace singers on - then at midnight popped out heads outside and watched the fireworks.
You'll totally love it if you havent been before and i would go as far to say its defo worth even sacrificing a summer hol for a winter xmas/new year break - its ace walking around in lovely weather knowing its freezing back home.
Make sure you get in quick booking accomodation (if your doing seperate flight and accom) as the cheaper options go quite quick - got a good deal this year paid £260ish quid for flight from newcastle with thomsons flying 24th dec - 1st Jan. Stayed in the Andorra apartments in a nice part of las americas (almost bordering los christianos) and only paid £330 for the week through alpharooms, however about months before i went i checked around see if any other apartments came up and all that was showing was hotels for over a grand for a week.
Id recommend seperates over package deals as you pay through the nose with package deals. dependiing where you fly from jet2, xl and globe span all fly to tenerife over xmas from various airports however strangly thomsons where the cheapest by far - i even checked out the flight prices before i went and you could go xmas day until 1st for £200!! (prob dropped in price due to fact accomodation was lacking)not impressed with the northeast SNOW and wish i was back!!
would just keep checking the following web pages every few weeks to check prices - all fly manchester to tenerife
http://www.flymonarch.com
http://www.xl.com
http://www.thomsonflights.co.uk
http://www.jet2.com
http://www.easyjet.co.uk
if you keep a regular eye on them, once 1 has released they all follow. normally you get best deals booking within a week of release however sometiimes they do drop a bit but its a risk you take. Almost sure they mostly wont release until later in the year
also to let you know transfer cost from airport in taxi to las americas is only about 20-25 euros or to costa adeje around 30 euros.
any other questions just ask
We went to Tenerife in April when my wife was 15 weeks pregnant. We got a good deal with BA then, but they aint going anymore from Manchester.
We stayed at the Cleopatra, but at New Year this is way out of my price bracket.
I am very keen to stay at some apartments right on the beach, so that I can have a sea view as well. The feeling when you look out on your balcony in a morning is outstanding.
So any idea's on accomm would be good, or if you know any relieable websites.
You make it sound great. Are the fireworks good on NYE, everyone seems to go mad about them.
Thanks for the info, you have sold it to me.
Reet - for accomodation i'd recommend the Parque Santiago complexes - sure 1, 2 and 3 all have sea view accomodation. I have stayed in 2 before and loved it - quality accomodation.
These are normally private let (or a lot of them are) so try likes of

http://www.holidaylets.co.uk

theres 4 to let on this web sight as well which will let you view what there like http://www.parquesantiagovillas.com/
theres also the Parque Santiago 4 and 5 but im not sure they have sea views - some other holidaytruth buddys maybe able to help - these are the newer ones out of the complexes and are a bit more pricey. All 5 have great locations central to everything.
Reviews on 3/4 and 5 off trip advisor hav them placed at 3rd out of 64 - i always use trip advisor as my bench mark for what a place is like

But if i'd never been to Sydney then i'd say they are very very good and theres a few displays kicking off together.
Also for accomodation hotel wise with seaviews the H10 Las Palmeras and Conquisdior http://www.h10hotels.com/eng/tenerife-hotels/ are beach front
as is some of the Composteela beach apartments http://www.compostelabeach.co.uk/
http://www.solmelia.com the Sol Tenerife is very central (just at end of veronicas but dont let that put you off) ive stayed there before and found them ideal - clean and rooms reminded me very much of something like a premier travel lodge, has nice pool and you dotn even have to pass veronicas as the exit by the pool takes you straight out onto the beach front.

sometimes you can get lucky and get a good deal - plus bonus is you can book them with NO deposit and cancel up until 4pm on day of arrival so there always good to use as a back up (i.e. book it so you know you defo have somewhere - and then cancel once you get better deal elsewhere, or if you dont you know you still have somewhere decent to stay)
Would only do B & B at best though as there food wasnt anything over - then again why do Half board when on hol half the hol is eating out
also try http://www.solmelia.com
