Sorry about your job Alan. Did you get something booked up? Hope you get something sorted soon. Maybe we will catch up with you in March :tup

Really impressed with some of the replies here.I would be and am really concerned about the possibility of losing my job during this dreadful time.

It seems as if some members are able to just brush aside the concerns of mortgages, feeding themselves, council tax, heating bills etc etc.

I am just not sure if I lost my job that Goa would be number one on my list of priorities.

I mean surely keeping a roof over your head and paying the bills would come before blowing the reduncancy check on a trip to Goa.

Am I the only one who would put caution first.

I think we should remember that eveybodies priorities are different. We are all individuals and we probably all do things differently.

The last few months have been a bit of a trial for me, and l have lost quite a few friends. My motto now is "Live for today! Who knows about tomorrow?" Best wishes Alan. See you soon! :tup

Papa, luckily for myself a mortgage etc is not a concern.

But even if it was, in todays Britain if you run out of money you can be sure that when you die SOMEONE will bury you! (or at least prop you up in a bus shelter :D )

As Goan girl says "live for today" (with a bit of caution) you have no idea what tomorrow holds.

In realisitic terms the couple of thousand that you spend on a holiday is not going to make a lot of difference in the long term.
But, hey, everyone to their own choices in life.

Ps Goonerfan, where are you and what kind of job are you seeking maybe someone on here may hear of something that may suit?

Proves what a great forum this is.I wish you all the best in finding a job but at least you have a brilliant outlook on life.

I suppose I am a glass half empty kind of person and seeing all the replies on here urging you to go made me think a bit.

I hope you have a great time and can only wish I had such a positive outlook on life.

Papa, you can have a positive outlook, just get a smaller glass!....... it will look fuller!

( think I may submit that for inclusion in Xmas cracker mottos) :D

Luckily for us we are of an age where we do not have to face these problems but if it had happened to us a few years ago I would not have gone anywhere unless we had a job to go back to. I tend to be a bit of a "whittler" as we say in Yorkshire.
Maybe you could find a job where you could start a few days after your visit to Goa - I don't know about the job situation in UK - and would you take any job offered or could you get job seekers allowance or whatever it is called these days?
Good Luck with finding work.
