Antalya isnt as popular due less flights from the UK to this area.
I was on the first UK holiday flight to Antalya in May 1994 from Manchester.
Those interested in anywhere else other than Dalaman area will still read any posts posted about others, I would say the majority of posts is about the Dalaman area also, So what is the problem here?
Its not that I have a problem but the dalaman area with so many post could have a forum of its own.
But wouldn't this just cause more work for the Admin and mods who are already overstretched ? Another two forums to move the markers on all the time etc
Also many people want general information on Turkey. They would have to post in three forums.
The current way regulars can all make a case for their personal favorites and what there is to do in the Bodrum, Antalya and Dalaman areas so a newbie can get all the perspectives on the different areas and hopefully make an informed choice and get the right holiday for themselves.
There are also people like me who have only been to the Dalaman area, but hope to go to the Bodrum and Side areas as well at some point, so although I can't answer questions on the other areas I am still interested in reading the posts as it helps to build a picture of what the areas are like.

You would only have to about bodrum ans side on the non dalaman forum.
But wouldn't this just cause more work for the Admin and mods who are already overstretched
thank you doe..
members who have been with HT from the early days will have noticed we have lost several forums by combining them [eg. Portugal, Algarve & Madeira were all once separate] likewise the island forums were quite often missed till we changed the titles to eg.. Greece Crete or Spain Balearic's, which bought them together
wizard
So you could have Turkey Dalaman-marmaris, imceler, olu deniz, ovacik, hisaronu If spain and greece are broken up into different regions then why can't turkey be broken up into different regions considering the size of the country
that is fine if you know the area, i still get post in the gen Greece forum for other islands as the enquirer doesn't know such a resort is in a particular region, we look at the board layout about once a year, as a team we tend only to provide new forums where support is in evidence, as most of the members who have posted in reply are happy as it is ???? then it looks like it may be a non runner
I am sure there was a request sometime ago for an Icmeler forum and the mods agreed. It did not work as people had to trawl through more pages. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong.
I am only interested in the antalya region and have to search through loads of posts to find what I am looking for!
I usually post about the Bodrum area as it the the place I know the best but I still think all of Turkey should be under one forum. New people who have never been to Turkey before probably aren't sure where they are going, they may not particularly know which resorts are in which area, so I'm sure it would just confuse people.
I like the area but also like AI's and certainly dont feel they are in anyway inferior to self catering holidays, it's each to their own really what suits some doesn't suit others. You tend to find there are only a few posters who post along that vein anyway, so it's best just to train yourself to ignore their comments. Sounds like there are lots of nice AI's in the Lara Beach and Side areas and I hope people will keep posting about them as I would love to visit one day.
Yes my knowledge of the Dalaman region is better than those areas covered by the other 2 airports but I have been to the Aegean coast and this year going to the Med coast and I only ever go A/I. I agree there has always been what I effectionately call the icmeler fan club on this forum , although this has now eased with the icmeler on line forum but it is very hard not to recommend your favourite resort and I certainly dont feel any one area is more superior .
As for saying there are still posts in the wrong greek island forum, there are posts in the wrong forums in all the of destination forums.
If there were seperate forums for turkey regions then it might get posters in other regions because there posts will not get swallowed by all the dalaman posts. When I read the turkey forum I feel like I am only on a dalaman forum page.
Kedi saying people don't know the area and won't know where to post is no different to the different regions in the different spanish forums, not everybody knows where different resorts are in spain and anybody going to spain for the first time won't know where different places are.
Maybe a trial period, you never know you might get sudden interest in say the antalya region and all the quality A/I.
Lyn I think you don't do justice to most new members who visit the forum saying it would be too confusing, but it would help them learn where different regions and resorts in them, so what you are saying if you were a tour op you would have everywhere under turkey and regions because it would be too confusing for people who have not been to turkey before. I am saying a different forum for the dalaman region and not for the whole of turkey to be broken up in different regions, it would let the other regions breath instead of beeing suffocated by dalaman posts.
As I said I am not interested in the dalaman region and like violet I am more interested in the antalya region with its quality A/I hotels but trying to find posts for the region is a nightmare because of all the dalaman posts.
It's a bit selfish to ask for a separate forum just because you're not interested in one particular area. I love going to Icmeler and that's the part of Turkey I'm most familiar with, but I also really enjoy reading through the posts about other parts of Turkey as well. I think having separate forums for different areas would be very confusing and instead of increasing interest in particular areas, could actually have the opposite effect. Many of the posts I see on here are from people seeking recommendations for a resort, so surely it's better to have the one forum where everyone can make suggestions and people can then do their own research and make their own choices?
blondiescot how can it selfish saying I am not interested in the dalaman area and there should be a seperate forum for it. If you like reading through posts in different area's you would only have to click on the other forum, the post won't disappear. You love going to imceler what comes under dalalman and you find plenty of posts about imceler on the forum and don't have to go through page after page to find posts for the antalya regions. I don't think I am beinf selfish.
I see a lot of posts on here from "newbies" asking about different resorts and so on. I don't see the problem with keeping it as one Turkey forum and allowing everyone to have their say. It's not that much of a hardship to scroll through posts and only read the ones which interest you, if that's what you want.
I don't really think that anyone thinks one area is superior to any others but it may save some of the bickering that goes on here when one person recommends one place and then someone else comes on saying it is not as good as their favourite place.
You got my point if it works with spain it could work with turkey, turkey is a vast country with 100's miles between the different regions, it would actually make new comers to think whats different between the regions and ask more questions and learn more. I am asking for the mods and admin to look at doing turkey on a format like spain or do a trial run to see how it goes. I do realise it will mean extra work for admin and mods but if makes the forum better it would be a good idea.
