I've pre booked a tour of the Kanchanaburi area and the tour company have included a trip to the Srinakarin Dam. Can anyone tell me if this is worth a visit? It doesn't sound particularly interesting and I'm wondering if the time could be better spent somewhere else.
Thanks.
If you're Thai it's a must, if you aren't it's . . . . well, it's a dam and you're guide will give you lots of interesting info about how many tons of concrete are in it and how much water the reervoir holds. If you're lucky you'll get to stare in awe at lare turbines. ( Or take a Sudoku book and wait in the bus.)
Do you have any suggestions as to what to do instead. It's a private tour, so as long as it fits in timewise, we should be able to change it.
So far we are visiting the JEATH war museum, Kanchanaburi cemetery, and the bridge over the River Kwai. We will have a train ride on Death Railway and a visit to the Tiger Temple, on day one.
On day two they have allowed two and a half hours to visit the dam! Then on to the Erawan Waterfall, then a visit to Hellfire pass and the museum.
My Father was in a POW camp at Chungkai. Is there anything around there to see?
I'm sure there must be better things than a visit to a dam, so I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks.
Google 'Sangklaburi' that would be a good day out in it's own right. Or how about the floating nun? Not sure if she's still around but that's a wierd way to spend a couple of hours and almost as interesting as a dam
we did a one day trip which included everything bar Tiger Temple and although we had a long day, we had enough time.
who did you book your trip with. as we are travelling out on 28th dec and are looking at trips to book and are interesetd in this one.
Brian
I've heard so many good recommendations for Tong's that I decided to change. We couldn't get her, but have one of her guides called Charlie.
We're off tomorrow. Can't wait!
I just know you'll have a great time- I'm very jealous!
