there are some nice pictures on the German TUI website so I assume they use them. Cant find any client reports in English though.

We are English and live on Karpathos. Very few English ever visit here. I think the Kourka studios are in the Levkos area? Have been open for many years, so must be doing something right!! I think the only 2 companies who feature Karpathos (and Crete?) are Greek Sun Holidays and Cachet Travel, both have websites. If this post is too late, hope you had a good holiday!
definitelt not too late. Have now booked flights for 22/5/10 into Santorini and 15/6/10 out of Crete. Intend to come to Karpathos and now desperately trying to find out ferry departures Santorini - Karpathos so that I know how long to book accomodation for in Santorini. Can you help with ferry schedule from Karpathos to Crete please?
Ferry schedules change regularly, and I very much doubt if next May's will be out until around March/April 2010. We have had 3 different ferry companies in the past year!!! However, ferries are never fully booked, though I know it is difficult if you want to pre-book accommodation. May should not be hard to find anywhere, and you can always explain that you are not 100% sure about the dates. Most Greeks understand, 'cause they all use the ferries. You can always fly from Crete to Karpathos, Olympic Airways at present, though they finish in October and a new company will be doing routes. Their flight details should be out round about Christmas time for the summer. Hope this helps so maybe that would be an easier way of doing it. At present the Santorini/Heraklion/Sitia/Kassos/Diafani/Karpathos ferry is ANEK Lines, very good and efficient. They have a good website so you could always try that or it might even have a telephone number (not sure) You can always try Possi Travel on Karpathos (they have a website) though I am 99.9% sure they will tell you to contact them nearer the time!
Just for the record, Possi Travel phone number is 0030 22450 22235 and Fotoula deals with the ferries; very nice lady and speaks good English. Don't know Possi's website address, living here we do not need to use it. Did I make it clear that you can fly to/from Sitia in Crete to Karpathos? At present every day in the summer; takes about 45 mins with a stop on Kassos island. we are hoping the "new" Olympic Airways will give us the flights we've had to/from Crete, Rhodes and Athens that we've had for the past few years. May is lovely here on Karpathos, very warm (or even hot) virtually guaranteed sunshine every day, nearly every taverna or kafenion open and not many tourists.
very good info. Karpathos is an island we have thought about for some time, thanks.
If you need any information, I'll do my best to help.
living in Greece
Olympic Airways will not exist as such after end October 2009. They are bankrupt and bankrupting Greece too. The Greek Government have been bailing them out for billions of euros. They have been sold off, and I believe the company taking over is going to keep the name Olympic Airways (or Airlines, not sure). There may well be some changes to flights etc but they have always been pretty good at letting people know about flight changes, strikes etc. It really is a strike ridden company, the past two years have been a nightmare for people who live in Greece and rely on OA. Many people have gone over to Aegean Airlines, who are excellent and next year will fly in and out of London Stansted and London Heathrow. I've used them a few times (unfortunately not from Karpathos) and they really are good. I think most people hope that now that "Olympic" have got to start making money, things will be going along without too many of the problems OA have been beset by. I am sure you will be updated nearer the time but don't worry, May will be fine. End July/ August is the only real busy busy time in Greece, and of course Greek Easter (usually different time to the UK but I think in 2010 they are at the same time in the calendar)
thanks
Please - don't worry!!
I rang Olympic and was told that YES from 4/10/09 the Olympic we know now ceases to exist but a NEW Olympic takes over. IF they keep the routes current bookings are safe but if not we will get a refund!!
I am sure everyone in Greece who has to use them (and others from other parts of the World and Europe) will agree with you. Hopefully most of the routes will be saved, but if not do consider Aegean Airways, excellent (and I DON'T work for them!!!) They fly to Crete and Santorini from Athens, and next summer in and out of 2 London airports.
thanks - got fingers crossed and everything else
Don't worry, eveything will be fine. If you need any information or Karpathos or anything else I'll do my best to help.
