Really looking forward already. One of the main reasons I booked Kassiopi was for the scenery and a typically Greek experience. We did contemplate Paleokastritsa but decided that it would be a little too packed with coach tours, being the prettiest resort on the island. Anyone been to the Dimas studios and appartments. Read a couple of reviews and although they're only 2 star, everyone seems to have enjoyed there.
You will really love Kassiopi it has something to suit everyone.
There is a boat trip every day to the Sandy Beach going from the harbour. This stretch of beach is lovely and there is a taverna there for a meal. My other half has some really good links to Kassiopi which I will post for you when he returns from work.
Here are those sites, you'll find a wealth of information on here. You'll find your accomodation on the map. Hope they help.
Thanks for those threads Babs. Just visited the web sites - very informative. I'm getting all excited!
Can anybody recommend a taverna in Kassiopi that is typically Greek, perhaps used by the locals as compared to a more 'touristy' type taverna.
Cheers
Graham
We went to Kassiopi in 2000 on honeymoon and we were horrified at how english led the main eating area in Kassiopi was. Most restaurants advertised Full english menu including roast beef yorkshire puddings etc. You also had several advertising live premiership football and english dvds!
Going by reputation there is a very nice restaurant that you turn left at the town square and walk for about 5 mins. Supposed to be very nice food and fabulous sea views. We found a restaurant actually down at the harbour itself with terrific greek food and a very good choice.
You sound as though you are like us and when you go to greece you would prefer to eat greek food - I can't understand why people go away and then insist on a full roast dinner etc!!!
Whereabouts are you stopping as I may be able to give you a bit more information
Jason
Someone has recommended this reataurant in a different posting - it look like it could be the one I was talking about!

Here is another link for some more info

Hope to find some good restaurants serving traditional greek fayre e.g. Stiffados, greek salad, moussaka etc all washed down with a couple of glasses of ouzo. Please point me in the right direction.
As I said earlier we found a restaurant on the harbour front itself and if it isn't the link that I posted it is very similar to it. We seem to make mistakes when accepting recommendations on restaurants as when we were there someone recommended English Mickeys and we thought we would try it even though we like to go native whilst we are away. Needless to say it was the one and only time we went there in the 2 weeks we were in Kassiopi.
Where are you staying as we were in the Michaelangelo apartments and can really recommend the greek night there. It is set around one of the swimming pools in the complex and has really good entertainment and food.
I think you will have to close your eyes whilst walking down the street into the town itself - to avoid the choices of english menus, football etc - we were worried till we reached the harbour and found a nice selection of restaurants.
Kassiopi may have changed since we went there in 2000 but something tells me not
Jason
The garlic mushrooms were superb and can still taste them now!!!
It was very busy there and had to wait for a table, service was excellent and the food delicious.
Enjoy!!

Janis is excellent food. It is lovely to eat and sit and look at the sea, listen to the water, A bottle of wine a lovely meal ah ah. Janis is not down at the harbour, but is on the sea front
Thanks for the info, I must admit I thought Kassiopi was going to be a bit more Greek than what it sounds.
I never eat british food when in Greece as I love Greek food, and as you say why go abroad to eat roast beef
The only taverna that I have managed to find on the net that looks nice is in fact the Janis, so thanks to all that have mentioned it
It sound as if the harbour area will be our number one eating area.
Jason we are staying Philipos apartments, I think they are on a side street on the right as you come down in to Kassiopi

we're staying in the Dimas appartments. Quite liked the look of the Michaelangelo appts ourselves. Janis's restaurant seems to come highly recommended, though some have said it's quite expensive. We'll probably pay it a visit to see if it's worth the money. Apparently the view from the restaurant is to die for. Do you agree?

Hi, we love Kassiopi and we really love Petrinos, its a family run affair and very friendly. Janis is very good too but most times its very busy and that extra touch is lost, also it is a little more expensive. Enjoy Kassiopi we always do!
going to dimas apts august, been told some of the blocks face brick wall and next to nightclub, have kids and want to avoid, does anybody know which ones to avoid?can you hire boat for the day(8 people)also best places to visit by boat ?which are best escorted boat trips and to where? thanks
I'm not going to be much use to you I'm afraid. Don't know the answers to your questions, but I have read a couple of really good reviews on the appartments and have booked to go there next May for our silver wedding anniversary. Maybe you could post a review on this website when you come back. In the meantime, hope you have a great hol!
i would recommend this trip its a lovely sail arrive in corfu town just in time for lunch and then some sightseeing and shopping. the boat usually stops half way back so you can take a dip and cool down.
i am leaving next friday staying in a little village between kassiopi and acharavie. if you need any further information let me know.
Have you tried the kassiopi-experience website messageboard. I'm sure they will give you further information (INVALID URL There's a couple of good reviews on the accomodation there.
We've not been in August before but expect it will be a bit more lively than we're used to. Can't comment on the sound levels at that time of year personally.
We've always hired a self-drive motor boat from Filipos boats for a day and that's fun if you have a sense of adventure. You can go east as far as Nissaki and stop where you choose for lunch, etc. Lovely scenery down that stretch of coast. (Take note that if you choose to wade in unfamiliar waters you should always wear sandals or jellies because of the possibility of sea urchins! - ask my wife for further info!). You have to get back to harbour before the sea kicks up at about 4pm around the point.
Larger boats will take you to Corfu town for a trip. Last two times we went and did same trips both times. The captain was very friendly and let my daughter take the wheel for a spell. I also hear that you can go to nearby sandy beach at Kalamaki on boat trip each day. Theres a nice English couple at Cosmic Travel in Kassiopi who do good prices for trips, car hire, etc. Otherwise, the reps for the Tour Operators are very friendly and you can easily book trips with them at your welcome meeting if you're not bothered about how much you pay.......
I am off to sunny studios kassiopi on sept 26th. I have just read on the resort reviews that it only has four tavernas and two bars. If this is so is there anywhere with a bit more life nearby?
