We have stayed in Agia Efimia a couple of years ago but it was the last 2 weeks of September so it was quite quiet and the main beach was often very sparsely populated. I'm considering going back on my own for a week this July while my hubby is on his annual mountain biking holiday. I particularly wanted to go to somewhere I'd before and done all my sightseeing so I can just chill out with my books and ipod! However, whilst I know it's not one of the 'main' resorts, I think it's our school holidays (I'm looking to go on the 22nd) so I'd guess it won't be as quiet the last time. Hee, hee - can you tell we don't have children?
Anyway, has anyone on here visited Ag Ef in July before?
Hi, we were there 3 years ago in August and it was very quiet, but sorry don`t know about July.
We went in July/August and it was quiet. Very laid back resort and never really that packed with tourists. Never found Kefalonia that busy during the height of the season. Fab island
I totally agree that's why I'm not intimidated going back on my own. I've just booked over the 'net and can't wait to go back now!!
We were in Kef last July and visited Ag Ef a few times, was never busy in the day except for one time when a bus full of pensioners pulled up and were ushered into a selected restaurant.

Bring lots of good books - it really is very quiet.

Ardwyn - your photos are lovely and bring back lots of happy memories.
Thanks Jim - I've been before but never in July

That's why I liked it so much last time and didn't want it to be spoilt I've done all my sightseeing so I'm just planning on chilling out, reading, listening to my ipod and snorkelling. Heaven!
Fourni - a small group of islands accessible from Samos by small ferry or fishing vessel, loads of character, definitely Greece in the 1970s.
Lipsi - small island in N Dodecanese, ferry from Kos. Good walking, quite a lot of re-patriated Ossie-Greeks in summer!
The lesser Cyclades - group of smaller islands south of Paros/Naxos. Ferries from those islands
Of course, none of these are easy to get to, which is why they're so quiet!

ooh thanks Jim. I'll keep those handy for future ref.
traffic can be a bit of a problem around the times the ferries go in and out of sami, as the main road up to sami from the south of the island runs straight through agia efimia. the village has long campaigned for a bypass by so far there is no sign of one.
but it is certainly not a rowdy resort - there are no clubs or loud bars. the most noise comes from the yachties - agia efimia is becoming a more and more popular place for flotillas of yachts to stop overnight.
try visiting friends of kefalonia for more info on agia efimia and kefalonia - and read the reviews too, there are a fw that might be of interest

p.s. look into assos. this is by far the most beautiful resort on the island, very qiet and peaceful vut still a range of good tavernas and a coupole of cafe vbars. no traffic allowed into assos at all in the summer.
Thanks for that Dot - as I said I've been to Ag Ef before just not in July. I really enjoyed Kefalonia and we were lucky as we saw and did loads and Ag Ef proved to be a great base. I know exactly what you mean about Assos, we both loved it.
