hi all......
would it be possible for someone to post a small list of goods with a price comparison between goa and kerala....ie beer ,suncream ,honeybee, sandals , mozzie spray just so people know what to expect and how much they should be paying.
we are going to the uday samudra, is it better to buy things near hotel [if possible ] or is it better to buy near lighthouse beach.
cheers mac

Mac ,you will be better off buying everthing you need at
Lighthouse Beach, the Uday Samudra is on a quiet beach
with not much around, you can walk over to Lighthouse
but would recommend you walk only in the day and get taxi
or Tuk Tuk in the evening. shops are at the Lighthouse beach
and most of the eating places. not sure on the prices think it
was more expensive than Goa,but eating out was quite reasonable.
hope this helps.

cheers ann thanks for the reply...
is there a reason for you not recommending walking at night , or is it just exercising caution.

Would think its safe, but rather uneven and rocky in
some parts before you hit the road.We only walked
it in the day.
Best place for serious shopping is in TRIVANDRUM
a good market and loads of shops, you won,t get much
in Kovolam.

:) thankyou for the info thats very helpful :)
we had a night mare today in london trying to get our visas,if anybodys thinking of going to queue up, the only people who got visas for today were people that queued from 5.30 am.we got there at eight an were too late, they were handing out appointment cards for november 6th and 7th.so if anyone needs to travel soon either get there very early or use one of their accredited travel agents, we ended up driving to west hampstead to a travel agents to get ours.hopefully it will be posted to use wednesday,we paid extra thirty ponds each plus 5 pounds registered post.if anyones interested then pm me for the address and phone number and ill happily supply thanks hope this helps

Our visa,s arrived last tuesday, sent them to yourtravelshop.com
in Bolton they took about 16days so not all that bad, cost £10 extra per visa, as we live in South Wales there was no other way , unless we travelled to London,

The Indian food is much better in Kerala than Goa but don't expect the international choice you get in Goa .
Drink is more expensive and more difficult to buy to "take away" but still very cheap compared to GB.
Not as much rubbish about in Kovalam as there is in places like Baga.
