We were away for 2 weeks and I read about 10 books on my kindle,it's so much kinder to my eyes,I can read without sunglasses and I only have to use one hand.I love mine.
I think I will love it when I get used to it, I am just adjusting to the small and darker screen. But hey no just think about the extra weight allowance I will have in my case for shoes

Managed to read 12 books whilst in Majorca and I average around three a week at home. Youngest bought me mine for xmas and it is one of the best pressies I have ever received. I still buy books and the Kindle will never replace them in my opinion. There is something about holding a book in your hands and browsing through your favourite parts of a story.

But for holidays if you are an avid reader they are marvellous, the days of filling my case up with books are long gone.

Anyone who hasn't got the link to Kindle free books here it is:-
Judith wrote:Fwh mentions browsing through your favourite parts of a story and that's what I miss with a Kindle, quite often I want to refer back to something earlier on in the book or if there are a lot of names that I am mixing up I can't flip back easily to see who's who.

My wife is always using her kindle and she has put a load of books on there for me as well , but I prefer lying on a sunbed with a real book so usually end up buying a book for 7/8 quid at the airport , I generally like autobiographies or comedy stuff and then I leave the book behind ! I just like having a real book , I'm sure I will get used to reading from a kindle eventually and they are such a great idea , they are to reading what the iPod is to music , and I don't buy CDs anymore but buy more music than ever!!!

I really like it as you can use it as a stand, which came in handy on the plane as I stood it on my tray.
Also I fold it over and secure with the press studd which means when I'm reading in bed for instance I can put my hand through the dividing parts and it makes it more secure, (then I just use my thumb to turn the pages).
When I was on holiday in February a woman staying in my hotel was using one, I'd never seen a stand before and thought it looked really useful. I bought one when I returned home and as you say it's great for reading in bed.

This is also a website I look at, which lists freebie books for Kindle that is on Amazon. Usually gets updated everyday.

Thanks for that
Glynis, the ereaderiq site usually gets updated via the american time. I think it's on the east coast time. So for the UK, I usually check it from around 8:30/9:30 in the morning onwards for the current days freebies
Istanbul Unanchor Travel Guide - Between the East and the West, a 3-Day Itinerary - is now listed at £5.45 and
Rome Travel Guide - A 3 Day Tour Around Ancient Rome - is now £5.14
So I saved myself the best part of £11.00
The Crete guide is showing as 1.99
Must commend kindle in some ways as my daughter is on here third, the second two of which have been replaced free of charge as they were within the guarantee period. I'm not sure if she was unlucky with hers or a bit robust with them, but she just rang them up and was told to send the broken/faulty ones back and she received free replacements no questions asked. Seemed like impressive customer service to me.
