Kindle - good and bad points.

Good - weighs a lot lighter than half a dozen books that I used to take on holiday - great if you are always over/or close the weight limit.

Bad - difficult to flick back and fwd if you lose the plot (not impossible though)

Steve- I know what you mean about flicking back and forward. Its the one disadvantage I can think of in a kindle.

Here is another free download site again you have to register. If you go to the ebook zone and work backwards for the latest postings.

You will need winzip or similar to extract the files once downloaded, posters often upload them in various formats ie .mobi ePub PDF etc but if you need to convert download Calibre it's a free conversion software

It can be a little time consuming and fiddly but it is easy once you get the hang of it and worth it for all the latest releases.

Had a bit of a play with the new kindle touch in currys the other day, its awful, just a little touch on the screen and the page turns, its bad enough now that when i move or turn over in bed i turn a page or 2 so wont be getting one of those

Must just mention this that I overheard in Argoos the other day.

Picture the scene there I am standing waiting on my order coming through from the abyss and a wee elderly lady arrives beside me and asks the young boy serving 'son do you sell covers for Kindle fires' the young lad has that look (you know the look, a good Scottish word is glaikit :D so he then decides to get a bit more information about this possible sale and asks her if it is an indoor fire or one that can be used in the garden for BBQ's.

To the young lad, if you ever read this I must apologise for laughing :)

I hope none of his pals overheard that- he would never live it down.
Glaikit- isn't that such a great descriptive word? :)

We are off on Saturday to Majorca for two weeks and I am loaded up, just wish I could stop buying the damn things. Got enough to last me for a long, long time - and I have an offer of 4,500 free.
Not tried the touch yet but my youngest is fed up of me telling him what a great pressie it was. Taking a charger with me this time as I ran out of battery in February with 4 days left on my holiday.

I gave my husband a Kindle at Christmas. Apart from one or two at 99 pence, he has never paid for any. He has now read 36 books. Well worth paying the Kindle with what he's saving on not buying books!

I have 105 books on my kindle and have read and deleted many,I have probably spent about £30.00 as I bought some books that were very popular and I had to pay about £3.50 for each,it has been one of my best buys so far.It probably saves me money when I go on holidays too as I don't have to pay for excess weight due to the amount of books I need to take.
My husband and son have them too.

I wouldn't be without mine! As an avid bookworm I took 6 books to Lanzarote in January and still had to raid the hotels shelves. I download every day as I'm stocking up for Kos in June. It's amazing! Some of the free books I've downloaded have been absolute rippers!

I wonder if the charity shops are not selling as many books now the Kindle has become popular :que
I love books and still take loads on holiday and hope there is a book exchange in the hotel. :tup

I do love the kindle but won't spend a lot on a book for it. if I have to spend the money it will be on a real book!

Unfortunately you can't adjust the brightness. It displays just like a book would, so it doesn't harm your eyes, but you get used to it. I know what you mean though it is such a difference reading on your iPad to a kindle.
