Wow free upgrades!! I take it you were a wednesday arrival too Ponge? I have been in to firstchoice and asked if its possible to upgrade but got told that a) we are arriving on sunday so they tend not to put you select rooms then and b) if there was a chance to move we would have to pay the extra as we originally only paid for a family room.

Oh well, either way sounds like we will have a great time where ever we stay. Don't suppose you have any pics to show? :D

Ive stuck some pics on the photos section on this site, but theyre mostly the miraluna.

I will scan some more from the other families photos as theyve got a few more of the kiotari bay as well.

Its a gorgeous place & youll have a great time!

Hi louloublue and Slyfield

We were a sunday morning arrival but the ever so lovely lady that dealt with our transfer said that there was one lovely big room with private pool left so she put us in there. We didnt have the select service so i think the slippers and robes were a mistake on the cleaners behalf. When we were leaving a maid arrived with tea and coffee and fruit bowl, so shame we hadnt had that.

Slyfield had we been there the same week as you we would have been sharing the pool with you, we were next door.

As I said, excellent holiday all round and the Kiotari Bay was good with great pools too.

Hi,

First Choice have informed me that all building work next to the hotel has stopped since 25th July, can anyone who has returned recently confirm this??

hi,can anyone tell me,if you book veranda rooms, that they are the ones that have there own sunloungers and brolllys and are pool side, thanks mo. :) :) thinking of changing already booked holiday to here.

Hi Mobeckwith,

The verandah rooms we saw had their own sunloungers but no umbrellas. If youre in the miraluna there is plenty of space round the pools with loads of sunloungers & fixed brollys. These are shared but there was hardly anyone there when we were staying so you could pick & choose.

The way the place was set up was a block of apartments with a pool next to or extremely nearby with wooden decking & sunloungers, umbrellas etc. There are 7 pools dotted about the miraluna, some of them are really secluded & dead quiet so perfect for relaxing etc.

hope this helps but there are some pics of the verandah area on this websites gallery under Rhodes.

Hi, returned from Kiotari on 2nd August and the building work was very definately still going on. In fact the noise was unnoticable on our first week however just before we came home at least three mornings there was a lot of noise starting at around 6am. First Choice should be warning people of this as if you are there to relax and like to sleep in in a morning then this would certainly affect your holiday. As it was we have two lively children who are up at the crack of dawn anyway and we are out pretty early anyway so didnt really affect us. No noise can be heard during the day or by the pools though.

How do you ensure you are in the Miraluna part of the hotel and not the Kiotari do you book through different companies? :thanks

hi doepsmic, from looking in to the details,to gaurentee the miraluna.you have to book select accomadation with first choice or eclipse direct, for us this raises the price by a lot because there is 6 of us we would have to have 2 rooms, its so annoying that it costs us the same to go to the med as some people pay for florida  the downside of havind a big family i suppose, anyway the october prices are within my budget, but i am still looking around, may stick with the original plan,or change to somewhere cheaper. mo :)

please be aware most people who upgraded to select and were put in miraluna said it was definately not worth the money to upgrade. All the entertainment during the day is down at the kiotari and the miraluna is ok if you wish to stay silent all day, its like a library up there. One noise from the kids and the Germans (of which occupy most of the miraluna) look down their noses at you for making a noise. I would say this part would suit couples looking for a relaxing holiday but certainly not if you have children. Good luck!

hi many thanks to you both.

I'm just looking a various options for 2007 at the moment. I liked the idea of the not having to fight for sunbeds at the miraluna that someone mentioned earlier and also the rooms with verandas with a couple of sunbeds on them (doing away with the need to get sunbeds by pool anyway. Hurrah!)

Only problem is I will have a lively 14 and 12 year old with, so that probably puts the Miraluna out for us, as don't wish to incur the wrath of the Germans if it's a bit silent up there  Wouldn't want to disturb all that book reading (those were the days!)

Thanks Scoobydoo for confirmation of the buiding works.

Are all the select family rooms located at the Miraluna??? as we have 1 select room & 2 family rooms booked, was hoping that we would be near to one another

Hi, I am not certain but I do think all select rooms were at the miraluna but I definately would ring the hotel directly and ask if you can have rooms near to each other. The Miraluna accomodation does back on to the main kiotari accomodation so you could still be close together but you would have to ask for this. Also as someone asked earlier ALL the kids clubs are at the Kiotari although you are able to join them if you are in Miraluna. Have a great time if you are going it is a fantastic place, would definately go back. Spent two weeks there recently and loved it. Another plus is I dont think the mossies have found this hotel yet, not one bite and never heard of anyone saying there was any. Enjoy!

Hiya Robin,

I was told by the miraluna receptionist that select rooms were miraluna only.

There were 8 of us in all (4 adults & 4 kids aged 13, 12, 9 & 8). We had the family select with private pool as a free upgrade from the basic family select we originally booked, which was a result.

We forked out £2100 for a basic family select for 4 of us for 2 wks (but we got binned from the Kos aqua so had some clout getting moved up from the kiotari rooms).

Sorry scoobydo but our kids had a whale of a time at the miraluna & the germans never bothered at all (tough luck if they did!).

When we were there - end of June - they had their kids with them too & they did what most kids do so couldnt get snooty. Admittedly the miraluna is a lot quieter, but that suited us down to the ground as our lot were splashing around in the miraluna pools while the adults chilled in the mornings, then we all went down to the pool bar at the kiotari & they kids splashed around in the big pool for the afternoon. Best of both worlds!

The other family we went with had a family select room near reception which was 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom & a balcony but it was a smashing room with all modcons & brand spanking new. Plus it had a really secluded pool out the back they had to themselves most of the time.

Id definitely pay the extra for select but would prolly stop short of forking out 4 grand for the private pool one if i had to pay it myself! The hotel is gorgeous, the food is great & the pools are excellent plus Sunbeds are never a prob. Another bonus is miraluna guests get free beer & selected cocktails & spirits at the kiotari pay only cocktail bar upstairs.

Loved the place & would deffo go back.

No worries robin,

youll have a brilliant time. That place has got something for everybody regardless of staying at the kiotari or the miraluna!

And from what i gather the weather is fabulous over there in August! If there is a drawback (and it might not be one depending on what you want in a holiday) is being some distance from any major towns.

I know some folks like havign a lot of places on their dooorstep or travelling out but we found that we didnt actually want to leave the hotel complex (sad but true!)

You might want to take some dvd's with you if youre in select rooms. We were originally told that reception do them but they didnt have any when we were there. I know you dont want to spend all day indoors watching films or listening to music but it comes in handy for the kids while youre getting ready to go out etc!

Your right the weather is fabulous there. We have only been back a week and the temperature was in the 40s while we were there. Have a great holiday I'm really jealous would love to go back! Not much in the area but I would recommend if you are just looking for a trip out ofthe resort you MUST visit nearby Lindos. The bus stop is outside the hotel gates and costs about 1.5 euro but it is in my opinion the most beautiful quaint picturesque place in Rhodes, full of cobbled streets with little shops and bars and restaurants its a must.

It's been quiet on here for a while, where has everyone gone?? Only 10 days and counting until we fly out to kiotari bay... the other family members are flying in 7 days time... not quite sure if thats a good or a bad thing? Let's hope their reviews are just as good as everyone else's on here!
