Well at least We have an argument with them now.

FC are the ones CHOOSING not to tell us if KABC is going ahead! Or is it now to FC ADVANTAGE that they are better of not to tell us?
Either way We booked this holiday as FC ADVERTISED IT! They choose to pull the plug, sinking some of us and letting others bob along.

How can they explain their reasons for "NOT KNOWING FOR 2007"?
When clearly other sites are advertising it as ready for this year :?:

FC say they are not opening because it has not met their specific standards.

However, if somebody else is willing to open it then clearly it is up to them to take the risks if the holidaymakers decide that it is not up to expectations.

Also bare in mind that customer expectations will probably be lower as the local operator is selling at a significantly lower price than FC was.

If FC felt able to put customers in I am sure they would have, as this whole experience has cost them alot of money this year one way and another.

The reason for the delay on the 2007 announcement is most likely that FC want to be sure that any required remedial work / improvements can be made in time for the 2007 season.

I have just looked at the Hotel and it is obvious that the end product does not look like the artisit impression we have seen in the brochure and reading through the details not everything has been advertised that we would have expected therefore I feel the main reason FC pulled out was we all would have been in position to complain and force compensation from them for false advertising and somehow this would have cost FC more than pulling out early. I know we will not see it likes this but they can now easily say it is to protect there holidaymakers and that they did EVERYTHING to ease the problem (ha ha ha) not that they completly messed up and were not on top or watching the building going on!!

Which website are you trying to do the booking on?

I assume that you are aware that this property is Not being offered by First Choice?

When I looked at the building I have to say that I didn't think that it looked much like the artists impression, but that is the thing about artists impressions, they are not photos and the tour operator could argue that they are only meant to give a suggestion of how it might all look and plans are subject to change during building etc.

This is why booking from artists impressions is a no no, because you really do not know what the finished product is going to be like until later.

Meanwhile you are commiting to a legally binding contract without knowing what you are going to get - sheer madness in my view and something that should not be allowed in holiday brochures.

Hello
Just received my tickets in today to travel on the second of August to guess where KABC bit ironic that I changed my holiday with them last Monday and these tickets were printed out on the sixth of July after it was announced it would not be open???
Do they know what they are doing?

Called Medhotels today and they stated that the KABC complex is complete with all facilities ready, and that it opened for business this Wednesday (12th July). I repeated my question "are you sure it is all complete as I have heard otherwise" and the operator said yes, and that their reps had checked it out and given it the ok.

So we are off on the 26th July for 2 weeks. If I get the chance I'll get online and post a first impressions review and maybe get some pics uploaded (I'll provide link if I do this).

If it is a dump I'll be tracking down the Medhotels rep!

Good luck to anyone else going. Might see you by the pool / hole in the ground!

Do you mean your tickets booked through FC?

What's going on? If you cancelled did you rebook an alternative?

let us know what happens. This is getting real confusing now :?: :o :o

I was going to change my booking to KABC. I might be stuck with it now for next year.

I for one will be looking forward to hearing your feedback. I am definetely leaving changing KABC for next year till I get back of my hols in 2 weeks. I go tommorow and will cross weeks with you.
Going by the last few posts We might just be okay for next year.

I am getting so fed up. One minute I am changing, next I am sticking it out till October, Next due to more bad publicity from FC I am changing again, now I am sticking again.
When will this rollercoaster stop :?:

with regards to the tickets, this happend when we were all cancelled back in May, Lisa London had her tickets sent still for KABC but never got her tickets for her replacement holiday, although things were ok in the end, FC obviously dont "talk" within departments.

Roobarb - hope you dont mind me asking, but who did you book your flights with? hope you have a fab time and that the complex is all as it should be, really looking forward to hearing your review plus seeing real life pics. Cannot believe that someone is actually going to get to swim in the pools, sleep in the beds and eat in the restaurants. FC should be hanging their heads in shame for all the dissapointments they have caused this year, ok things may not have met their standards or instructions, but they did have two years to get the bloody thing ready.

In the description it reads as if only one restaurant is open so i guess it is still not completely ready.

Flights to Kos were booked through Imperial Travel. Got their details from teletextholidays.co.uk after a search. Tel 0870 950 9495.

Yes, it is very likely that a number of the facilities originally advertised by FC may not be ready / available, so therefore anybody considering this resort should disregard anything that FC advertised, as it is now not being offered by them.

Only the information being quoted by the companies now offering the resort should be considered, and these details may well vary in any number of ways, from what FC were originally selling.

This isn't KABC as originally offered by FC, although it is based at the same property and it has been given a (slightly) different name to indicate that.

Hello everyone. Just thought I would let you all know how our holiday went - Got back yesterday.

We had the stress of the cancellation to KABC the night before we were due to fly (1st July) and the manic rush to finalise packing as we transferred to a four star plus Hotel in Turkey and a earlier flight so we only had a few hours sleep before we had to get up and travel to the airport.
Although we were annoyed and frustated with FC cancelling 24 hours before we were due to leave, the alternative holiday was a better star rating and the specification of the hotel looked fantastic, plus we received the 20% compensation as well so we thought fair enough, crossed fingers we would still have a nice holiday.

We arrived at our four star plus hotel in Turkey to find out that it had only been open a week and wasn't finished! Groan!
Have to admit that hotel and location was beautiful and the rooms, although small, were clean and new.
However, as the hotel had only been open a week, the customer service was awful and staff just didn't have a clue! Only a few people spoke good english which was a nightmare.
We booked the KABC because of the several restaurants on site (my hubby has a stomach problem so we needed the option of several places to eat) and the activities that they offered and when we accepted the alternative we were told that there was a restaurant at the hotel plus an Al a carte and several beach bars.
The restaurant at the hotel was not open and we were informed we had to eat at the buffet next door at the sister hotel (3 star) - The food was awful and they couldn't cope with the amount of people there!! We could only eat at the al a carte twice during our 2 week stay.
We complained to our rep who eventually offered a transfer to another hotel but informed us it would cost us over £500.00. We were livid. We told her it wasn't good enough so she came back and said we could eat in the al a carte restaurant every night! Okay, the food was reasonable but they offered the same menu every night so we only ate there a few times.
We basically spent the 20% compensation eating out for breakfast and dinner.
The hotel restaurant did open after we had been there ten days (ten days of lying by the pool listening to the builders banging, drilling to complete it....it was on the top floor.....open air!) but again because it was new the staff were running around not knowing what they were doing and the food wasn't up to scratch although it did get better.
We spoke to lots of people whilst we were there who were also having the same problems and were eating out.
Anyway, we got the rep to sign a complaint form whilst we were there and we are now going to write to a letter of complaint to first choice.
All the money that we took with us for excursions was spent on food which was so frustrating. We paid for an all inclusive four star holiday and ending up spending most of our time away from the hotel.

Just hope that we recieve some kind of apology from FC and some money back for what we spent outside of the hotel.

Hope everyone has managed to get their hols sorted.

Janenmick, glad to hear that you had a nice time in Kos.

Hi
i booked an AI holiday yeaterday thru travel counsellors to KABC, then, like an idiot, i checked the web for info re the place!!!!, thats when i found you lot. i was on this site till 3am this morning reading and sending emails to my travel agent and FC and then my bank, as id book with the card!
i was pleased to read that the place is now up and running, but is it? my travel agent says he has foned the hotel this morning, and that 70% of the rooms are being used as we speak.
I have been told that all the facilities are available, but i suppose we will just have to wait and see.
like you Rhurbobthedog, we are flying 26th, but only for 1 week. so at least theres both of us going with the same confussed feelings!!!

i have received an email from my agent saying that the name of the accom is Kos Aqua Hotel, is this the same place???
