Just looked in the new Airtours brochure (I booked through Direct Holdays and their brochure doesn't give so much detail) and seen the pics of the gym and jacuzzi :D Is there an extra charge to use the gym and jacuzzi or is it part of your all-inclusive?
In exactly 4 weeks time we'll be on the plane :fly :pele

hi
We did not use the gym and sauna but did play squash (had to pay) and have massage too (heaven!) for which we paid, so I assume jaccuzi and sauna are extra but cannot say for sure.

I read somewhere that the hotel is set out in blocks and block B was best, can anyone tell me if this is right or are they basically the same, also is it better not to be on the ground floor. Thanks.

Hi

Can't remember which block we were in but it was the block near to the small pool. We were on 2nd floor and and no icky creatures visit us. The advantage of the Ground floor is that you had a terrace - but we had a balcony which was lovely of an evening sitting there.

From what I could see there was no difference in quality of rooms (kid made friends with kids in block by the 'rifle range' and so we picked up and dropped off at each others rooms).

As my original post said, we really enjoyed it here and would recommend so don't think twice!

Thanks for that mrsgaz, was wondering what the difference was between the 2 kids clubs, what activities they do ect. My kids will be 10 and 8 when we go (not going until next june have been to benidorm this year).

mrsgaz - Is it possible to 'borrow' an iron at the LB? Trying to cut down on my packing and don't use an iron much on holiday anyway, but some things things may need a quick 'going-over'. :?:

We stayed there in Nov 2003 and were in block A/B on the top floor. It was definitely the best. Fantastic view of the pool and bar area. We were on our honeymoon so I dont know if they gave it to us especially. Ask for it if you can.

Either A or B is also good

Just got back from the Lanzarote Bay at 4am this morning - had a fantastic holiday, kids are gutted to be back home.
We had a great room on Block A on the middle floor with full pool view (exactly as requested), the staff were lovely, possibly the friendliest we've ever had; the food was good, weather was HOT and we want to go back NOW!!!!
The only complaint is that there wasn't very much going on for teenagers - the entire hotel revolves around the little'uns (under 12s), however my kids (aged 15 and 12) made some friends, made their own entertainment, and generally had a great time time anyway (they've been MSN-ing their new friends this afternoon).
I'll put a full write-up in the reviews section in a couple of days when I've caught up with sleep/washing/ironing/TV soaps etc.

Hi
Sorry did not respond earlier.
Hotel run kids club seemed to be more sports and outdoor activities - football, shuffleboard, pirate hunts (I was that pirate!). Airtours kids club was in air conditioned club room and more colouring and making (although Hotel kids club also did making), plus face painting (I HATE face paints!), sweetie eating - but they did also go outside too at least once per week.
Son was 7 when we went and he liked the Airtours club better but your may prefer the Hotel one (esp the 10 year old)

Yes you can hire fans, irons, hairdryers, iron boards from reception. Can't remember the cost but was something like 10 euro deposit. We only hired a fan as it was really really hot in the evenings as the breeze semed to have died down.

It really is a great hotel - not fantastic (it is only 3 stars after all) but I think it was worth every penny.

Join in the adult activities too - we loved rifle shooting, javalot, archery, boules, football etc while the kids were at their club. makes a change from lounging by the pool EVERY day.

Thanks mrsgaz - bit late now, we've been back home for 5 days, but the info will be useful to others :D
I finally got around to writing my review: http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/reviews/spain/canary-islands/lanzarote/costa-teguise/lanzarote-bay-apartments/ Not sorted out my photos yet, but hoping to get around to doing a bit of uploading and video editing tomorrow - I think I took around 800 photos, but not very many of the hotel - we went out a lot during the day and just chilled around the upstairs bar in the evening. 8)
Didn't have quite as many adult/daytime activities as you mentioned - in fact my main complaint was the lack of activities for anyone over 12!
Anyway, had a good holiday getting out and about around the resort and the island but would have been climbing the walls staying at the hotel every day!

just returned from a 2 week holiday, staying at lanzarote apartments in peurto del carmen.
we had a nice time ,the weather was brillient, only thing we were disappointed with was how unclean it was[the beach was spotless] and the amount of bars with nobody in and this was on the main drag.
No such thing as cheap beer anymore anything upto 3euros.
have the british deserted this resort in favour of cheaper locations. resort was full of irish bars and irish people[no disrespect] but it was like being in ireland but with better weather.
bar touts got quite annoying at times and also we had to be quite rude to the people with the scratch cards.
all in all a good holiday but would not rush back in the near future to this resort.
We used Luton travel /last minuites tours can be booked through hotels or just turn up at the busstop for tours , much cheaper than reps tours.

hiya natrose , we went for 2 weeks last september , it was our first time there . i found it very quiet resort , not much to do , but my husband loved it there . we go again on thursday for 2 weeks , still undecided wether i like it or not . see how it goes this time, but if it is same as last year then think this will be our final visit . staying in pdc again .

Hi Natrose
I went to PDC Last summer and I like you was very dissapointed me and my boyfriend were bored in the second week as we just though there was not a lot going on.
I too agree that there is loads of Irish (again no disresepct) and it is like being in Ireland with sun ! and also the touts are a pain !!! we used to walk on the beach side of the main drag to try and escape them!
I thought it was a nice enough resort but I was dissapointed and would probably only go back for a last minute winter break for some sun.

I have been 3 times and love Lanza PDC.
With the exception of Florida, I have not been on holiday for any longer than a week since in about 10 years.
I find that is usually just about the right amount of time to explore and relax without getting bored

I'm not to sure where you got the "unclean" bit from, to me the Island could be a little cleaner but only in the respect that the green bins are overflowing in some areas. This however is being delt with by the underground bins which are going into place all over the resort to prevent it.

The cheapest place along the strip for beer is in Ricks bar as it's 1.50 euros for a large beer and a lot of places charge 2-2.50.

I saw the other day somewhere charging 2.75 for a full english brecky as well

The touts are annoying but getting better with time... time seems to drag though, at least it's not on par with some of the other Islands :)
Irish.. yes there is loads and no idea why, there euro goes a lot further over here than at home so maybe thats why?

If you want Spanish you need to of visited the old town, there is a lot of Spanish places you could visit to get away from the tourists as it were.

Also.. how are you people getting bored, I can think off the top of my head 9 different attractions on the Island (you don't have to Pay for all of these) many pubs/places to eat, over 5km of beach, harbours (including Calero/Playa Blanca), trips to other islands, water sports, fishing etc etc... there is loads to do?? :)

2604clare - the bar is open until midnight and there are 'snacks' available from about 9.30ish until about 11pm, although the snacks are just whatever is leftover from the evening meal. :? There are a few nice bars/restaurants just around the corner if you feel like a treat after a long flight :D
