Can't really comment on the weather either, never been at that time of year. However if you want any other general info about buffets, slot clubs, bargains etc...then ask away!
We stayed in Excalibur last May. We didn't get an refurbished room (were supposed to be staying at the Gold Coast but got moved!) but the room we had did have a hairdryer in the bathroom & an iron & ironing board.
Thanks for the clarification. Excalibur website does say those appliances are provided in rooms but its always reassuring to hear from people who have actually stayed there. Am so excited - can't wait!
You could try emailing them if you can find an email address on their website. Some hotels don't make them easy to find. Your best bet is to call them. If you dial 0844 861 2121 before the 001 it will only cost 1p/min.
luci
I have emailed them but still waiting for a reply. Thanks for the tip re. phone call!
Try and get a room in tower 2. These rooms are nicer than tower 1 apparently. We stayed in tower 2 and were very pleased with our room. It was huge and had a great view of the Luxor.
I think the Excalibur gets a bit of a raw deal in some places but we found it an excellent choice. It is very busy though but that is part and parcel of most hotels in Vegas.
As for temps, it will be fine for t-shirts and shorts day time but you might want more in the evening. My Brother has been in April and it was scorching during the day the whole time he was there.
BTW Excalibur has the loosest slots out of the hotels we have stayed in (Luxor, NYNY, Excalibur and MGM). We actually came away $600 up on our 4 nights (we were on a RTW trip) and that was just playing the 25c machines.
Id love to hear about your trip as im going the end of April and staying at the Excalibur too! so any info will be greatfully received! (especially about the hairdryers!!)
Thanks to all for your helpful advice. Will definitely post a trip report and hotel review upon my return.
We played mostly in the MGM grand and broke even overall, then you get all your beer/drinks free on top of that
The Excaliber is good as a hotel and has plenty of food outlets, plus dirty dicks always looked very busy when we passed so you should have a great time.
You can quite easily go to Vegas and not gamble but it's always worth having a few £'s to spend on it,
Weather was good, 55-60 the 3 days just gone, t-shirt weather in the day, light jacket at night.
Did the rides at the top of the Stratosphere, if you can pluck up the courage, give them a shot
Thanks Danny316. I will be out in Vegas for my 40th birthday and am planning to do the Stratosphere rides on my actual birthday. I am sure my screams will be heard back in the UK!
I did the big shot and X scream, (I was the only one on Xscream at sat right at the front) but did not do Insanity as I'm not to keen on that type of ride.
You'll have a great time and the location of the Excaliber is superb, so no probs with getting to the other hotels and attractions. most are within easy walking distance
Enjoy mate and have a happy 40th
Well done on your winnings in the MGM. We found the slots were loose but the drinks service was a bit hit and miss. Loved the MGM as a whole though and would stay there next time we go back.
Excalibur was a lucky hotel for us gambling wise, certainly compared to the Luxor anyway. Although first day last September walking through the Luxor casino I decided to have $4 (I changed quarters into notes at the cage, how embarrasing!) and turned that into $80 which was a result.
For me out of the 4 hotels we have stayed at the MGM is the best overall, best gambling at the Excalibur, and best drinks service at NYNY. I suppose if I am going to have to give the Luxor a best of, it would be best inclinator in a hotel ever!!!
If anyone is thinking of doing something a bit different whilst in Vegas I would recommend the Valley of Fire State Park and Red Rock Canyon. In fact, the quad biking tour we did just outside the Valley of Fire was a major highlight of my Wife's 30th birthday trip last September. Very hot though!!
For those that are going, have fun!!!
Please can anyone advise me if this hotel provides towels for around the pool.
It's actually a nice pool area and I believe there has been some work on it as well which will enhance it further.
Every hotel I've stayed at in Vegas gives you pool towels at the poolside so I don't think you will have a problem.
Thanks, that's one less thing to pack. Flying Sunday at 1pm from Manchester, I seem to have loads to do before I go.
Have a wonderful time Sue. I hope you love it in Vegas as much as I do.
Oh and thanks for all your p.m's too. We have sorted out the hair and makeup now, the weddings on the 5th, can't wait.
Sue
