Day 5 Wednesday 28th March 2012
The holiday was now going too quickly, intially it was a nice pace but when you get beyond the half way point it tends to speed up and this was happening to us. I did regret only booking 6 nights but another night would have made little difference, the plan was to spend most time on the Strip and Downtown (with some shopping) and I think 6 nights is plenty for that. I don't know if a day trip to a Hoover Dam or a Valley of Fire would have helped slow it up a little but at the same time we didn't want an early start, despite the fact we were waking up early anyway.
We were heading Downtown today, so opted for some drinks from Starbucks (free of charge) before getting on a SDX to Fremont where we then headed to the Plaza to use another Restaurant.com gift certificate at HHaGG. We both actually preferred this restaurant to the Imperial Palace one but both are nice, in fact I was very impressed with the lobby and public areas in the Plaza. Again, no wait and this time we both went for the Man vs Food favourite which was the Andy's Sage Fried Chicken Benedict, fresh spinach, bacon, tomato, mozzarella, scrambled eggs (not for Kel) and chipotle sauce. This was better than the dish I had the other day, absolutely stunning but I couldn't finish it. Food won! Again the price was around $35 with the voucher (gratuity being included with the gift certificate) so again not cheap overall but worth it for food this good.
After a wander around the Plaza we walked to the Mob Museum which was something we desperately wanted to do on this trip and was recently opened a few blocks from Fremont. We got in at midday and didn't come out until after 2pm, an amazing museum and although busy and not particularly well laid out on floor 3 (where you start the tour) it was $14pp well spent. Thanks to LVA for providing an online $4pp off the entry price but at $18 it would be well worth it as well.....
