A thank you to all who post valuable information re cruise bargains.

It was a post by windjammer back in October that alerted me to the bargain I booked then and now the waiting is over !

Sailing on the Jade on Friday, along with others who post on this board, and I just know I am going to enjoy. :cheers

Keep the bargains coming :)

Will probably bump into you at some point on the Jade!

They come round quick don't they.

Have a good time and please report back, we are on the North cape trips 29th June(4.5weeks to go) with friends from previous NCL trips so need some fresh info.

If you bump into Aldo(head barman or if promoted bar manager), I think he has transfered to the Jade, let him know Fosters man from the Gem is coming soon.

IF you get a chance to visit the Garden or Courtyard villas do it.

Just returned after a week on the Island Escape there appear to be some very good deals for people booking a few days before. The lowest I found was a couple who paid £309 flying from Birmingham (inside cabin). We having booked the cheapest inside I could find and were upgraded to an outside on deck 9.
I know the Escape is an old ship but if the itinery is good there seems to be good deals with this ship.

OK this is not a new deal but new availability.

29th June NCL Jade North cape, they are currently upgrading passengers.

This is putting some good cabins back into inventory.

Some aft AF mini suites, a prime location cabin at $2499pp+tx fuel.
There is an AE suite for $2999pp+tx fuel (this will be upsold if no new passenger grabs it)

insides at $999p+
cheap for a 12night North Cape run from Southamptonp+txfuel.

Any of these are available through US discount agents like
http://www.vacationstogo.com
http://www.bestpricecruises.com
and http://www.ncl.com
or if you want to pay more http://www.uk.ncl.com

Same Jade cruise 28th North Cape NEW UK pricing at UK NCL and discount email from planetcruise and probably others not checked all my email yet today

SO check UK/US carefully if planning to join.

AF mini suites
uk NCL are £1259 inc TIPS and that might include parking
planet cruise £1119

these are for aft facing that we gave up

These were £1800uk price and £1300 USprice so a good saving.

I have attached a response to a recent enquiry to vacationstogo.com, whom we have used for a number of cruises, lastly as recently as February 2008. This is bad news for us Brits, as US prices nearly always undercut what is available with the UK T/A's!

Dear Mr. Hamrag,

Thanks for your e-mail to Vacations To Go, requesting that we contact you about FASTDEAL #12319!

I am sorry to say that Costa, Cunard, Holland America, Oceania, Princess, Silversea and Star Clippers now prohibit U.S. travel agencies (including Vacations To Go) from selling cruises to citizens of countries other than the United States and Canada. We are very disappointed in the restrictions that have been placed on U.S. travel agencies.

If you are a citizen of the U.S. or Canada, or have a residence in the U.S. or Canada, please let me know and we will help you with any cruise we offer. Otherwise, please let me know when I can assist you with any of the other lines we represent.

Thanks again for writing, and we look forward to being of service!
Sincerely,

Alan Fox

Try cruisequick.com they are still taking UK bookings - I think.

I sent VTG an email about this yesterday, as we booked with them in Jun , for a cruise in Jan 09, I was wondering how we stood, they have not replied as of yet. We provisionally booked this cruise on board the Oosterdam in April with their onboard travel consultant, they transferred this booking to our VTG travel agent. We received $100 OBC from VTG, $75 from HAL plus a free dinner for two in the pinnacle grill, I will be very angry if they cancel my booking, as I have just booked the flights.

That email has always been on the VTG website, so I don't think it is a new thing - there is a dedicated UK cruisers thread on cruise critc about it on the HAL page. Some UK passengers are being turned away by VTG but accepted by cruise.com.

I await there reply.

Yes this is a bit of a blow for those who book through the US. I would think any bookings already made will be honoured.
My concern is that should you have a major problem on the cruise where would you stay legally?

Ive just spoken to my travel agent in the US, she says Im not to worry as its something that the cruise companies tell them off about now and again, it is not all cruise lines just some, and if you use the same travel agent - not just the same company - you will be ok, in fact I have just booked another cruise with her for April 09 while I was on the phone with one of the companies that I supposed to be telling you off. I received a confirmation from her then went onto the HAL site and its there. The only thing she did warn me off from doing was booking with the future cruise consultants whilst on board, she has matched teh on board credits that they give for the same deposit plus the extra's that her company gives.

She has said though if you dont use a regular agent, and shop around, the agent you speak to may not be willing to help you, as it will the agent that loses the commission if the cruise line gets funny - she says they will not cancel the booking though.

The thing I find funny is HAL, Princess and Cunard are the ones supposingly telling them off for selling to UK clients, yet Carnival which owns all of them, are still quite happy for them to do it, as are Royal carribean and Norweignian the backlash has apparently started from British cruise agents who have complained to their US head offices about there lost commission - the US agents answer was sell the same cruise for the same price in both countries and then UK clients wouldn't have to book abroad.

Not an ideal scenario.
