Hi
I am going to Goa in 3 weeks, I am travelling alone, female age 40.
How safe will it be to do trips on my own, i.e. Hampi, using trains and buses, going to Panaji etc.
Would like to potter and do things at my pace, but, might be safer in groups?
Thanks for any info and help.

Welcome to the forum.Lots of people will be along with advice but in the meantime the search button will certainly help.Male and always go with my wife so cannot help your specific enquiry.
we have several female members who have gone to Goa on their own. Hopefully they will see this and add their comments. Concesus is that you will be safe. Why not look in on one of our meets while you are there?
Thanks Papa and Fiona.
A male point of view again but I have been coming to Goa for twenty years with my wife and daughter who is now 28 and we think Goa is one of the safest and least threatening place's we have ever been.
The wife and I now spend six or seven months a year here and often travel independently of each other by bus, tut tut, car or just walking about town until we meet up in a bar or shack for the evening
The wife regularly goes to Panjim,or Mapsa on her own to do every day type shopping in the markets or to get me bits from hardware shops, plumbing or electrical merchants.
We do not wear a lot of Jewellery or flash a fat wallet of money about, in fact we live our life's here in the same way we do in England even though here we are millionaires compared to locals
I went on my own in December and same age group as you. I had no problem on buses etc, didn't get on any trains but doing that later in the year when I go for 3 weeks.
It's just about thinking as you would over here if you went out alone. I did have a couple of moments when walking home late but I just walked confidently and kept going. (I have a personal alarm to take with me next time). I found taxi drivers good and telling me lots of things about the area.
I also told my hotel where I was going 'just in case'.
Go to the meets and you will meet some great people who will give you so much advice and tips you will be on overload!
Have a great time and you will love every minute of it!!!
xx
Hi. I'm also a female and in your age group and have been to Goa a few times by myself. I never had a problem doing anything or going anywhere. Its one place where you never feel out of place in restaurants or bars and if anything locals have gone out of their way to "look out for me". As said before don't do anything you wouldn't do here. I'm going again on 30 March for 2 weeks and can't wait.
P.S. Celcat and Sim1 hope you have a great time when you go!
