Hi, we have been to turkey many times over the past few years and love it but are running out of places that look appealing. We loved Olu Deniz and have been a few times but it is getting louder and doesn't appeal so much, we looked at Hisoronu but didn't like it much, Kalakan was very nice but not more than once, Turunc was good but only the one beach or Amos so once was enough and the prices reflected its captive audience. Last two years we have been to Akyaka and it is perfect for what we want but two years means that to go there again would see us getting bored. Akyaka was very small and quiet, plenty of very good Turkish food, the main beach, another beach over the river and a really nice one 30 minutes walk away, the people were very friendly and never any hassle in shops or markets. The costs in Akyaka appeared to be amazingly cheap compared to other resorts, which is always a bonus.
We are looking for somewhere similar, a little off the usual tourist route, quiet and friendly but with enough restaurants/kitchens to give us a selection for two weeks and nice beaches within easy reach, sand not a prerequisite. We looked at Calis but it wasn't to our liking, that was too quiet even for us, we are at a loss as to where to go now, always good to have nice beaches but also an opportunity to do other things like sightseeing, excursions etc.
We were wondering if there is anywhere near Bodrum as it would be nice to visit Bodrum for a day trip but not stay there, though we are open to ideas anywhere for a relaxing stay somewhere self catering with a good local market and not going to cost us a fortune
Thanks
It is difficult to recommend a resort as I would hate to get it wrong but do some research on the above and see if any fit the bill.

As well as the resorts Jakki has suggested you could also look at Ortakent, that is a smallish resorts with a Turkish feel and a lovely beach, some nice restaurants and bars and another lovely beach a short distance away. Because it is quite a popular resort with Turkish holiday makers the prices are a bit less than places like Bitez or Yalikavak.
I think that from all the suggestions we may be able to go there and scout some of the other places mentioned for next year, we loved Akyaka but it was small and going back a second year was enough, that is the sort of place we are after so hopefully Gumusluk will fit the bill. I have wanted to visit Bodrum for a while but not necessarily stay there, so this fits for that as well.
We are looking at some airport transfers, the airport shuttle bus seems very cheap and gets a mixture of reviews from great to out and out left stranded so we are not too keen on that, the other prices are all much in the same area for a taxi but always prefer to go with a recommendation if someone has used a particular company and found them to be good, can anybody help with this?
http://www.propercar.com. We have used them for eight years - first for taxi transfers, and now that we live half the year on the Bodrum peninsula, we often hire a car from them. They are reasonable and reliable and respond to queries through their website very efficiently.

If you want a private taxi transfer, then I can highly recommend Jak xx
There are a lot of fish restaurants but there are also traditional Turkish restaurants too. The fish restaurants tend to be on the se front and the others back a bit. It take about 30 minutes by dolmus to Bodrum and you can also easily get into nearby Turgutreis or Yalikavak if you fancy a change of scenery.
