We found a lovely little cove fairly isolated, and after it was ensured that I would be okay and had everything that I needed regarding refreshment, my carer helped me set up my fishing line. When he was satisfied, he informed me that he wouldn't be far away, just around the corner looking at some shops.
The sun was shining high, the sky was blue, and hardly a breeze whisked past my cheeks as I sat at the edge of the clear blue sea, hoping that a fish would be attracted to my shrimp bait on the end of my line, but even if I didn't catch a fish, I was quite happy to relax and meditate my time away.
It must have been a good fifteen minutes after I had been sat enjoying the peace and quiet, when I felt a very gentle stroke across my cheek, and at first I attempted to brush away whatever it was that was causing the intrusion of my rest. Once again I felt the soft gentle stroke against my right cheek, and again I brushed my hand against my face. But when it happened for a third time, my eyes opened hoping to find whatever it was that was causing the annoyance on my peaceful solitude. I stared in front of me, I couldn't believe my eyes, and I rubbed them to ensure that I wasn't dreaming, but the image remained. A big grin of delight appeared on my weather beaten features, 'Sarah!' I involuntary called out, 'how, where, when?' I asked as she drew nearer to me. Her laugh vibrated through my whole body, a laugh not of ridicule, but one of delight that I was happy to see her. 'It's been a long time,' I stated as she placed her arm around my shoulders.
I was about to speak again when she gently laid a finger on my lips. 'Hello Peter,' she said as she knelt at my side and laid her head on my lap. 'Yes it has been a long time, too long.'
My hand went to her head and I gently stroked her dark brown hair, and for several minutes all was quiet once more, save for the gentle breeze causing laps of water from the ocean to hit the pebbles on the edge of the shore. Neither of us said a word, we didn't need to, we were soul mates, and we each knew what the other was thinking or feeling. 'Why Malta?' I asked, finally breaking the silence.
'Because I knew that you were happy here,' she replied almost instantaneously, 'and if you are happy, then so am I, and I wanted to be with you.' She lifted her head from my lap and looked me straight in the eyes. 'You know that I'm always there for you.' She stood up and took my hand. 'Come on,' she said as she tugged gently indicating that I was to go with her.
'What about my fishing line?' I queried as I followed her.
'Don't worry about it,' she replied, 'you won't catch anything today anyway.'
As we went along the beach, the breeze had picked up a little and was now tugging at Sarah's long hair, she was so beautiful and the permanent smile on her smooth features was a joy to behold. For what appeared to be hours was in fact only minutes and soon we were at a clear blue lagoon where we would not be observed by the casual onlooker. We stopped, and she turned to me, and without hesitation, she removed her white short dress to reveal her wonderful curved body, the bright yellow bikini that went with it, left little to the imagination.
'Come on!' she called out as she tugged playfully at my clothes, 'we're going for a swim.' She turned, placed her foot carefully in the water, 'hmm, water's just right.' Stripped to my trunks I waited as she looked me up and down, 'not bad,' she stated, 'you have a fine physique.'
I gave her a playful tap, and holding each other's hand, we went into the warm ocean that was for the next hour or so going to be our playground. We swam far and wide, first a game of tag, but I always lost as she was a stronger swimmer than me, and then we dived deep to admire the marine life that was the treasure of this paradise isle. Suddenly we had visitors, but they were not unwelcome, the dolphins that joined us were very playful, and had decided that we were friendly, so came to join in our fun. It was hilarious to watch the antics of the visitors, and Sarah and I tread water with our arms around each other as they performed for us. We were so happy that the dolphins had arrived.
Sarah looked at me, and I looked at her, our faces were close and our lips drew near until contact was made and the lingering kiss was well worth waiting for.
The dolphin's were delighted and began fast nautical moves around us. Two of them stopped at our side and we held on to their fins. We were whisked away at speed, and at first we went around in circles, and then we did shallow dives. After several shallow dives, the dolphins must have realised that we were ready for the next move, and one moment we were on the top of the warm sea, and the next we were diving deep towards the ocean bed. The dolphins must have known that we were not fish, and they didn't take us two far down. Soon they were bringing us to the surface, but at a more leisurely pace than when we dived. This definitely confirmed my suspicions that the dolphins knew of the human's anatomy and that although we could easily dive fairly fast, we have to ascend at a much lower rate otherwise we could end up with the bends.
As my head broke surface, I found myself all alone, and the dolphins were now swimming away. I began to panic, and looked around in anxiety wondering what had happened to Sarah? Had she hurt herself? Had she gone too deep? But I needn't have worried as at the same time that I was having these thoughts the sea erupted in a cascade of water in front of me as a dolphin emerged from the depths like a cork from a pop bottle. High into the air it went with Sarah hanging gracefully on to it's fin as if she had completed this task many times and her laughter was contagious as I laughed too. She let go of the dolphin to land in the water a few feet away from me, and when she surfaced again she place her arms around my shoulders.
She looked directly into my eyes as she gently kissed me on the lips. We casually swam back to shore and for a while just laid side by side on the sandy beach. It was a short time later that I felt her hands massaging my now aching shoulders, and it was very relaxing.
'I have to go now,' she informed me, 'but I'll be back whenever you need me.' After making me comfortable back in my chair where I had originally been fishing, she kissed me on the head, and I watched as she disappeared into the sunset.
Over the next couple of days I returned to the cove and tried my luck at fishing. I didn't see Sarah again during my visit of Malta, but I knew that she had been especially when I woke up on the third day and found a string of small sea shells had been placed around my neck, and small footprints in the sand leading away from my position directly to the sea, but none returning?
Time for a cuppa!
