hi all
i flew to prague from edinburgh on 7th april with jet 2 ,i did not recieve my luggage on arrival in prague.my suitcase is still missing, has anybody ever had a claim for compensation from the airline or holiday insurance for lost luggage.are they likley to pay out the full value of the suitcase and its contents.hopefully the case will turn up.
i had to claim a couple of years back after a flight with mytravel ,suitcase never came home with me, anyways i only got roughly a third back of the value of the contents because i couldnt provide receipts for everything,
did you claim against my travel or your holiday insurance
im pretty sure it was my insurance i had to claim from.
alison make sure you start a claim with the airline as technically they are liable.. then again if you've read my post i did get mine back after 33 days. i really hope you do as its an awful thing to happen. my advice is report it to your insurance company and the airline.. best of luck.
we had problems with monarch airlines 2 years ago. our suitcase was damaged on our flight to lanzarote, and we lost items, and then the one we bought in lanzarote to replace it was damaged on the way home!
logged it all at the airport for proof, but insurance company didn,t want to know.
received £60.00 out of a claim for £200.00, for damaged and missing items. they stopped me 3 lots of excess claim charges because i had mixed mine, my husbands and daughters stuff together.

Am I reading this correctly? You were charged 3 lots of excess because you took the precaution of mixing your luggage in the event that one of your suitcases went missing/was damaged?
That is just terrible. We always do the same because it would be just my luck that it would be my case that went missing.
Lost about £2800 in mostly clothing. Made a claim against my holiday insurance but because the claim was for over £2000 had to also claim against my home contents all risk cover.
A loss adjuster came out to see me from my home contents insurance and she asked me to have as many things as possible. I had very few receipts but I had shoe boxes photo's taken wearing clothing evening wear etc. Pieces of material from shortened clothing matching Antler suitcase and holdall. I had no problem with my full claim being met. The household insurance would have paid out in 2 ways either a lower figure now or in installments when I replaced the clothing. I was to send receipts. I choose the 2nd option but a few days later without any contact other than submitting my claim my holiday insurance sent me a cheque for the total £2000. No excess was taken. I then contacted my insurance who had given me £1000 and I was later called and told to keep the money already given to me.
Hopefully your baggage will turn up mine has on other occasions when I have lost it.

yes, i can confirm that they stopped 3 lots of excess charges. got fed up of arguing with them and gave up. definitely will not use travel agents insurance again!
That is the most disgraceful thing I've ever heard!
I would NOT have given up on recovering the 2 lots of excess.
