Thurs, 07.05.09: Hubby woke me at 8.30. I'm really not ready to go home. Walked to Ellis Island for breakfast which took 15 mins. Both had NY steak and eggs which was only $4.99. With coffee, chocolate milk and a beer bill was $17.30 plus tip and it was really good, better than last night's steak at Bill's.
Put $5 into a Twilight Zone machine while waiting for hubby, got 3 bonus rounds in 5 mins and cashed out at $20. My feet were sore despite hardly walking any distance and it was really hot so wandered back to the Signature. I think they said the temps were 10F above average for this time of year. Hubby went for a walk and I went on the internet. Really enjoying the coffee in the suite. I've never used a coffee maker before as I'm a dedicated tea drinker, but this stuff is really nice and not too strong. Thinking of having another massage later if I can be bothered to walk to the Hawaiian Marketplace.
Walked to Monte Carlo and gambled for a while. Was nearly out of money when I hit for 2000 credits. Played on a few machines and cocktail service was good so had a couple of paralyzers. Crossed to the Hawaiian Marketplace and we both had another massage at the Chinese reflexology place, $20 for 20 mins. I asked the guy not to be too hard and it was just fine and not brutal like the woman was.
Wandered back to the Signature and went into the Carriage House and asked if I could see a deluxe room as I only saw the one bedroomed the other day. He gave me the keys to two, one with a sitting area. The other one was quite small. I asked if you could request one with a sitting area and the girl said it was for four people as it was a sofa bed. Looks like we'd be better with the one bedroomed.
I forgot to say that I had a Frozen Hot Chocolate at Serendipity 3 the other day and it was quite nice. I got it from the Grab and Go as they seem to have some service issues with the restaurant.
Sat outside in the sun for 15 mins as I don't like sunbathing and it was still roasting at 5pm. Went to the fitness centre and had 15 mins on the treadmill which was good for me seeing as I've never been to a gym in my life.
It's just been on the news that it is 100F at the moment at 5pm.
Went to the MGM and gambled for a while before the show. We both put $20 into Hitchcock Theatre machines and cashed out for a total of $119. Would have played longer if we didn't have the show to go to.
Saw Tom Jones, $92 each and had excellent seats. It said Row 2A Seats 1 & 2, but that was actually the front row and we were touching the stage. We thought they were too close after the first song as the music was much louder than his voice, but they quickly sorted that out and the rest was perfect. I was about 3 feet away from him at one point. Saw 5 pairs of panties thrown onto the stage at the opposite side from us, but the woman at the table next to me was doing my head in. She had a small tiger soft toy and an envelope and kept pushing it further and further onto the stage, waving at him and having a right carry on constantly fluffing and flicking her hair in my face. I didn't see her face, but could tell from her hands that we was no spring chicken. Apart from that it was good. A cocktail in a souvenir glass was $15 and a domestic beer was $6, tip included. He played constant for the full 90 mins, hardly stopping for breath. Cher could learn a thing or two from him.
Went to the Sherwood Cafe at the Excalibur after the show. Hubby had a club sandwich and I had pasta rigatoni. I should have thought how big the portion would be as we should only have had one of them between us. I only ate a couple of forkfuls. Bill was $34 plus tip and we asked for a couple of boxes to take it home with us. Will be fine for an early lunch instead of breakfast tomorrow before we leave for the airport.
Hubby was dead on his feet and couldn't face the 30 mins walk back so we got a taxi, $8.70 plus tip. The driver was from Bulgaria and was nice and chatty. Got back about 11.
This will be the last instalment of my blog as we need to pack in the morning and our flight to Dallas is at 2.10pm, then on to Heathrow and Aberdeen. Checked the seating online today and there were a few rows of 3 seats available on the transatlantic so hoping to grab one of them and get some sleep. It's a 777 with ceiling mounted monitors rather than seatback.
Things we haven't done this trip - Mon Ami Gabi, Cheesecake Factory, Legends in Concert and we haven't used quite a few coupons and restaurant.com vouchers for free drinks and 2 for 1 entrees. Ah well there's always next time, God willing.
A couple of questions if you don't mind
Which restaurant was best for a really good steak? I've heard Binions is good with a nice view to go with it, any thoughts?
Can you get daily passes for the cat? As we want to go to the premium outlets.
Thanks, Mark.
Yes Binion's is good for steak and you can get 25% off by paying $3pp at Tix4Tonight.
I also like Mon Ami Gabi's filet mignon. What is your budget in dollars per person?
Will reply in a couple of days once I'm home.

Put $5 into a 1c machine at the airport and it hoovered it up. Moved to a 1c Sirens machine, had 30c left to play and hit for $129! Not bad for a 30c stake!

A nice leaving present for you then
That's what I call leaving in style Luci!

Would be happy to pay about $70-80 each for a nice meal, would that be enough?
That will get you a very nice meal. I think we were only about $70 for both of us at Binion's, but that was only one course and drink. We were too tired for dessert or coffee.
I like Mon Ami Gabi although some say the food is average. We also liked Bally's Steakhouse and again you can get 50% off entrees for a $3 fee from Tix4Tonight. We like the Cortez Room at the Gold Coast.
Prime at Bellagio might fit the bill although I haven't eaten there.
Read my trip report and the one from last year to see where we ate and the prices.
The Range at Harrah's has steaks arounf $40. It's the drinks that can add dramatically to the bill as a glass of wine is around $12.

Gotta say, we had a steak in Bills Steakhouse last year and it was phenominal, one of the best we've ever had, and for a good price too!
Some more questions for you if you dont mind
Are there any smoke free casinos? I remember when we were there a few years ago and some of the casinos were thick with smoke especially now when we are smoke free in indoor public places.
Which casino had the best cocktail service?
Thanks again Mark.
Best cocktail service we found this trip were Paris, Encore and the IP (smoky). MGM was good in places, PH not so good and hopeless at the Gold Coast.

It's sad to hear the Gold Coast cocktail service has gone downhill. We found it patchy at Orleans last year. It was as if there weren't enough staff - they were only working certain areas, so we ended up looking to see what areas were being covered when choosing what to play! 17 weeks today till we go now. It's getting closer. Because we booked in October for September, we've waited a long time for it to come around. Off to Tunisia next week, then I hope when I get back there will be some new good offers out.
Hoping to look at flights in the next few days once the jetlag's worn off. Didn't do anything before we went in case I was Vegassed out, but that didn't happend so looking to go again!
It was driving me nuts not knowing what was being built between Venetian and Palazo.. a Walgreens.
The Deuce has gone up $2 since November for a 24 hour ticket though.
The wait for Ellis Island, we went pretty late one night and there was no wait, we went back again and it was 2 hour wait, I loved the food but couldn't wait that long, we ended up in Toby Keiths in Harrahs.
Helen
We went to Toby Keith's for the first time in August, loved it, huge portions and great service. Highly recommended, maybe not so the music.....although some of it was listenable...at a push.
At Tix4tonight do they have a list of restaurants you can buy the discount vouchers for each day
Thanks
Re Tix4Dinner, they have a list that they hand out as it rarely changed, although there are a lot more restaurants than there were last year. It's $2 pp for a buffet and $3 pp for restaurants. I have the list here if there are any particular restaurants you are interested in. There are some quite good ones like Bally's Steakhouse and Binion's Steakhouse with 50% off entrees. You pay full price for everything else including sides.

Thanks Luci
So what were your overall thoughts on Carriage House? Did the rooms have mini-kitchens etc?
Anyone on here stayed at Desert Rose?
Lesley, we went into the Carriage House and asked to see some rooms. The one bedroomed looked great with a large kitchenette area. The deluxe was a lot smaller with a smaller kitchenette. There are laundry facilities on each floor and internet access is included in the price.

Any good gay bars in vegas?
