Hi if anyone has recently returned from Mahon airport can you confirm if the rumours I hear about the airport being very strict on luggage allowance weight are true. I have heard that if you are slightly over the allowance you have to pay in euros there and then.
Also I have been told by Monarch airlines that for this end at Gatwick for a family of 4 we are still ok to combine our luggage weight allowances (20kg each) into 2 main cases. However this means we will be 'over weight' (as each case could potentially be 40kg) for the return journey from Mahon and they may charge us?
Anyone who has any useful information it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
No case may be over 30 kilos. This is at Gatwick and Mahon ( and most other airports) industrial injuries to baggage handlers.
If you are over weight you will have to repack into another bag.
You will be charged for excess over your given allowance but you can split 4 20kilo allowances into 3 cases if you like as long as none is over 30kilos

Hi, we flew from Manchester with Thompson, 8 of us with 4 bags all around 28 kilos. No problems at either airport. Just got back yesterday, great holiday.
