TC have got a package on 8th from edinburgh for £1479 and from glasgow on 5th for £1539 if thats any good

flights with flyglobespan are £581 for 3 of you or £551 if you go outbound with flythomascook and return with flyglobespan, on the 7th - 15th oct.

monarch hotels for lykia from 7th oct for 3 adults is £574, then you will get 5% cashback if you go through topcashback etc

so looking at the cheapest option total is £1097, this includes £28 cashback, then your transfers are around £80 return on top so about £1177,thats quite a saving from £1700, over £500

i havent done a thorough search so you might find it even cheaper. you can get some cashback on flights too but havent taken this into consideration. hope this helps

nice to see this topic is coming back to life again for this year,

wonder what has changed this year ?? last year it was a few of the restruants and the health spa in residence, prices for the restruants went up to 5 - 7 euros and the spa hydro pool which was 7 euros went up to 25 euros !!

we're off on the 8th June so i can let any of you know whats happening when i get back but if you want to know a certain item or type of shows for this year i'll bring back a few programs, hopefully it may help some of you mums and dads out, just ask your question and i'll inquire when i'm there

i did diy in 2006 saved £400 less than thomas cook, but that was flying with XL !!!
if they were still going i would never fly again with them . . have heard same people are trading under the name of Heart !! not sure if that the right name but all of you please be carefull

pamplemousse have u booked yet , if not its definitely worth pricing up a diy, with you having children then maybe a package might give you free child places. have a look and see, easy jet did have some cheap flights not sure if they still do

I'm booked for the Royal Wings, Lara Beach this year but was hoping to get back to Lykia next June.

We normally book 2 rooms and get 2 free kids, paying for 4 adult. Might this be the cheapest option do you thinkas we're only then paying for 4 flights, not 6?

think you will have to wait and see when next years flights are released then compare, aegean flights are usually fairly cheap and come out for next summer around june time, the key to getting them cheap is to book as soon as you see them at a cheap price as they increase rapidly. then get some quotes for the accommodation and compare, it was certainly cheaper for a family of 3 booking as a diy but not sure for a bigger family. good luck let me know how you get on out of interest. ive just found out my oldest is expecting and not sure if im going to have to cancel lykia or give my booking to someone else now ,waiting for the scan to confirm dates as shes not sure , as i booked it as a diy im assuming i will lose all my money

I'm Back !!

Yes returning on 8th june like i said, but even tho i have booked a package with TC i always use Hamish Mcturk for my return transfer, when i inform the reps outside dalaman not to wait for me, they dont like it and i never have any welcome pack or info given, they dont even talk when in recpetion and i again inform them regarding the return transfer !!

Last year we landed at 6.10pm, we got our mcturk transfer and was in residence restaurant by 7.30pm, not bad !!
but i heard that the Tc coach did not arrive till 9.45pm due to the driver not knowing where all the hotels where in olu or the rep as she was new and she did not undertand the driver either !!

how long was the day trip from LW with TC ? all day ?

I have got everything sorted, just waiting for the day to arrive, should be in dalaman for 4.30pm local time

Are you going this year ? will get any info if you want, ie which type of show timetable they are using, just let me know

Hi Gregg.

Glad you are making it back out there, not us sadly. You are right about the TC transfer from Dalaman to Lykia. It took an age. We arrived at Dalaman maybe 12.30 or 1am as we had awful flights & the transfer took a good couple of hours as we did drop offs in Ovacik, Hisoranu and Olu. It wasn't a problem as my kids are teens, they & DH slept for 2 hours. I looked at the scenery but it was pitch black lol & only got interesting once the drop offs started.

Re the TC shopping trip. I booked this at TC's welcome meeting. TC had lots of complaints about their orgainsed trips from Lykia to Fethiye market as with all the pick-ups en route people were getting to the market late morning. Lykia is being the first pick-up.

They decided to offer this mini-bus affair, which goes straight from Lykia to Fethiye with no pick-ups. It was the only thing we booked with TC.

They pick you up from the residence reception at about 9am, Village about 5 mins later.

It's not really a trip as such I suppose. They just ferry you from place to place, think it goes, gold centre, market, handbag shop, break for lunch, leather shop and finally Turkish Delight factory. Handbag and leather shop were nice to look round but pricey.

They drop you at a specific 'recommended' cafe for lunch, I assume they get some kind of rake off. As the deal was so reasonable, cheaper than a cab or maybe that is the reps selling point, we ate there, the food was OK for a light lunch, but it is not compulsory to eat there.

Might be worth turning up at the TC welcome meeting, if you are interested & they are still offering it in 2009, as I have never know a TO to turn money away. Depends on if you wish to break up your week at Lykia with a day out I guess.

yes hopefully i can, shes had a scan done and she is only 9 weeks not 13 phew so that means i should be back in time , we back on 1st nov , baby due around 13th by scan dates, so should be fine, but fingers crossed, really looking forward to a week at lykia and a week at olu deniz resort

i see you use hamish mcturk for you transfers, we are going back to lw in august could you tell me roughly how much it costs there and back there are five of us in our family. every year we go on the tc transfer coach and every year i promise i will do a private transfer next year. specially this year as our flight arrives in at dalaman at 1640 and i want to make sure im sitting in that marina restaurant before it closes. thanks

Hope you don't mind me replying to your post to Gregg, but i have booked Hamish for this year so thought i could help.

I googled Hamish McTurk and it came up with his website. The pricelist is on there alongwith his contact details. I emailed him and he replied almost straight away to confirm the booking. I asked how we should pay, in Sterling or Lira, and his response was 'money is money in Turkey-whatever you like!' Seems like a cool guy!

His email is hamish@hamishmcturk.com if that helps you. For a family of 3 we are paying £45 which i thought was excellent. Our flight lands in Dalaman around midnight and i will just be desperate to get to bed by then so couldn't face a transfer!

One thing i would ask anyone else who has used him is do you just pay the quoted amount or give him a tip as we would in the UK for a taxi driver? I don't want to be rude if the done thing is to tip!

Hamish is great, I used him for the first time to LW last year and I'm glad i did.

Have booked him through e-mail,, he need to know how many people, your flight number, Carriers names ( thomas cook etc ). and your arrival time.

it's is costing me £80 return for 2 of us.

just phoned LW to ask if i could have the same room as last year .. the reply was yes no problem ....
