It sounds like a scuba diver course to me Chris and £200 doesnt sound too bad . If thats what it is It will still go towards her padi open water certification if its the full recognised certification she wants and that can be added anywhere . Bad news is theres more money to shell out Having said that I think she can still dive to 12 metres now with a "scuba diver " qualification but not sure of the restrictions. It may be worth giving padi in bristol a ring .

I had forgotten that the price included hubbies half day as well, so perhaps Lykia's price for this was OK after all. Seemed a very professional set up (not that I am qualified to judge ).
We have loads of paperwork as well. PADI Open Water Dive Manual, an offical looking Lykia World Log and Training Record Book, PADI Dive Planner, Discover Scuba Certificates for both of them, PADI offical card for DD. (credit card style). All of this was included.
just been googling around and this looks like a fairly clear explaination . http://www.h2odive.co.uk/Learn_To_Dive/PADI_Scuba_Diver_and_PADI_Junior_Scuba_Diver.html

Have to agree with everyone else - the food and setting is superb. I think one of the reasons it is such a great holiday is that there is really something for everyone. While relaxing in the blue lagoon or the oasis, you wouldn't think you were staying in the same place as all the action going on in the village pool or kids paradise. I used to love relaxing by the oasis for a couple of hours then wandering over to the village pool and watching everyone enjoying the pool games It was like 2 separate holidays!
Had a lovely meal in the chinese and neptune fish restaurant and thought the food in the normal restaurants were of a very high standard.
My two children 12 and 15, joined the teens club after a couple of days. They went off to do some water sports with them and that was that - I never saw them again!! Think LW will certainly take some beating for them - certainly one of their best holidays ever! Just doing the unpacking and finding glitter everywhere from the White Party
Lesley . Welcome home .
Still looking into booking Lykia World again for next year and from the prices I'm being quoted it looks as if booking it myself using TC flights and lykia-world.co.uk accommodation is the cheapest option. Just wondered if anyone had heard any reports on Lykia World in Antalya?
Looking at prices for next year with Mytravel and they are allocating 2 twin rooms for a party of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. This year we had a standard family room (I think). Wondering if Thomas Cook room allocations have changed for next year. If so, think this is going to make it a lot more expensive
thomas cook next year are chargeing for day flights from £49 per person.
i paid for this years holiday £1224 and next year is £1234 thats only £10 up !!! but take off £98 ( day flight charge ) and its cheaper £1136 - that is onlt for a week tho for 2 adults.
hope it helps
Hi Starry
Only just noticed you were back.
Welcome home, so glad you and the kids enjoyed Lykia, did you do a review ? I'm off to have a looksee.
I'm glad you still don't really know what cat room you were in as neither do I, it's so confusing.
How did it compare to the Pegasus Palace, that seems to be coming in at more my kind of price lol, would I be disappointed ?
One thing I do think is a bit cheeky with Lykia is how they call it 17 swimming pools (don't know if that is Lykia though or just brochure speak). To me the ones up in the childrens paradise are only really one pool as they all interconnect and some are no more than a foot bath, before victor meldrew gets on my case again lol, I know that still makes it 5 great pools so better than most places.
I spoke to a man that, when he arrived, was upgraded to the Residence because the village was full. He was given 2 rooms, think he said a jaccuzi. His rooms were the one's with the double balcony on the ground floor, overlooking the blue lagoon pool. Also, I went to look in A's room when she arrived - she was given 2 roomed one with walk-in wardrobe!! So some people were very lucky. Saying that, we didn't have any complaints about our room.
Will send you a pm as i am going to go
My theory is that they give you the best room they have available at the time you book in. (But within the hotel you have booked ie Village or Residence) as their was Family of three who had paid for a normal room, but got one like you are saying A has.
I think my thinking on the PP was a least the pools might equate, I would be prepared for the food to be inferior to Lykias though (scraping of chairs lol that old AI favourite doesn't it just get on your nerves. )
Wonder if their is anyone else around who has been to both ?
Well, there were not any adult only pools at PP, well I didn't come across any lol. I can't remember any quiet areas to retreat to either.
stay with LYKIA WORLD, you'll pay to go somewhere else and regrete it for not paying that little bit more, think of the less worry you'll have knowing where your going to eat and swim or even hide in the grounds !!
my sister keeps trying to find something the same as lykia but has not found nothing to match it yet !!

Thats the trouble with finding somewhere like Lykia. It has something for everyone. I would still go back and I was one of those that got the dreaded tummy bug.
how are the 2 comparing on price . Are we talking thousands for the 4 of you chris.
Well Lyn, just as an example with FC on 19/7/09 for 14 nights, with two rooms at each, so like for like :
almost double .
We've managed to get a price of £4286 going to Lykia from 17-31 July next year using lykia-world.co.uk direct and TC flights from Edinburgh - a bit better than the £7200 that TC and Thomson wanted . Only problem is that the accomm has to be booked by 31 August to get the 20% returning guests discount and the 2009 prices at 2008 prices they're offering. That price is for a large 2 bedroom family room.
Then I need to add flight /transfers which if Im lucky and grab some onur flights again would probably set me back £1000 .
so 5816 . Yes a few thousand less than the T/O price which is good news but still a lot of money .
May be worth thinking about chris and Lesley if you want to go back . If there was a glitch in their booking system I think thomas cook must of made a loss on you two this year
PS oops forgot to take off my 15% discount they are giving if you book before 31st march ( cant see anything about booking before 31st aug BW so im assuming that has now changed) which brings it down to £4093 + £1000 Im allowing for flights/transfers = 5093 . Getting close .
Have seen up to age 16 with Mytravel - still trying to find out why they are allocating 2 twin rooms instead of family room.
Have submitted my review, hopefully will be showing soon.
