hi all

10 days to go and counting every minute. can anyone tell me the price now for the italian restaurant as i have heard it is now 35 euros a person wich seems like a big jump. and being september out of school hols will the place be a bit deserted, my three are 18,15, and 3, shouldnt have really taken 15 year old out of school but it saved me nearly 3k on the price, do you think there will be many other kids there.

Any luck finding any child prices up to 16 ? Someone I was there with this year had definately only paid a child price for a sixteen year old, she was well made up about it. I think, but not 100% that she had booked through Going Places, do they still exist ?

If I could find a child price for a 16 year old and a free place for the 14 year old that will make it more affordable, as I had a free place for DS13 this year and kid price for DD15, although it will mean the family room again, but I think it would be worth it.

Thanks Lyn

I'm at work so shouldn't really be on line, but might try to see if going places still have a web-site tonight.

I enjoyed your review starry. :tup At least HT have 4 for this year now.

Dazman, I'm not sure if the Italian is now the restaurant that is fully a la carte and adult only so that may be why it's so expensive. I am sure someone who ate there this year will confirm one way or another, we stayed with the buffets.

I'm sure there will be other kids, you will not be the only one who wanted to save £3000. :yikes

Dazman - the Italian is now all a-la-carte - we reckoned you'd spend 25+ euro for a 3 course meal plus drinks, it is not adult only, but it was too pricy for us and 3 kids! The 35 euro charge per head is for the Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant.

The Italian has been a la carte as long as we have been going. The drinks are still included for the a la cartes, as long as you choose the house wine, beer or soft drinks. They offer you the wine list but I felt it was a bit pricey and the local stuff was reasonably good.

Hi all

Newbie here so hope this is posted in the correct section but am off to LW for the first time in October 2 adults and 10 yr old and 8yr old.

Dont really know anything about the place except that its highly recommended in the press. It looks enormous so as we are only there for a week I wonder if any of you could give me a few pointers as to where to go where not to go where to eat where not to eat etc so that we dont spend half the holiday hunting things down.

Any guidance much appreciated

Thanks

Hi toptastic and :welcome

There is a hotel tour everyday, so you could go on that the day after you arrive, so you get your bearings.

All the restaurants are good. I would go to the Marina the first night, then the Residence (a bit less busy than the Village) and then you can make up your mind. As you are only there a week, you may not feel the need to try the speciality restaurants but the Chinese was good :tup

If your children want to go to the children's club they meet up from 10am on the village dance floor.

If you get to go to the adults only pool, the oasis, they have a chef making up lovely salads and baguettes to order from 12.30 - 2.30pm and fruit is available as well.

Have a fantastic time - I'm sure you will.

Hi Toptastic,
We had our first visit last month and loved it.
Your kids will have a great time in the childrens clubs - I can't recommend them enough! Pick up weekly timetables from guest relations when you arrive to see what is on offer each day - your relevant club groupings are "Jokers" (6-9 years) and "Kids" (9-12 years) - so your two would get split up, don't know if that presents a problem but they will soon make lots of friends and the club staff are very good at involving newcomers.
Our three were all in "Kids" club - they start at 10.00, do two activities in the morning, could be Archery or Judo for instance, then supervised lunch and pool time ("Superslides") in the Children's Paradise - may then do a water activity like Bannana Boat or reherasal for the weekly kids show - kids in the "Kids" club can come and go - I think "Jokers" may need a parent to sign in and out. Ours did not bother with the evening kids club.
For yourselves, you can choose the Village Pool if you like lots of pool games etc - or the Residence pool is a bit quieter, the two adult only pools are obviously the quietest - unfortunately you do need to play the towel reservation game to get good spots at the main pools. If you have your kids with you, the Childrens Paradise is a good spot, with loungers on a large grassy area in the shade and all the slides etc in easy reach.
Don't be intimidated by the size of the place! go on the tour, or just wander around for an hour and it does not seem so daunting.
Marina, Residence and Village restaurants all very good - lovely sweet and savoury crepes in the afternoon from two hard working ladies at the edge of the main village square - near the path to the Residence.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply ppl.

Is there anything we should definitely avoid??

Sorry to sound so vague but we really don't know too much about the place as its come purely on recommendation. I think we have an all-inclusive type package - does this cover all food and drink all the time?? Some posts have suggested paying at some of the better restaurants - whats your views?

What about trips outside of the resort - some people suggest booking these outside rather than pay inflated prices inside - is this the best way?

Have been told we should go to the Blue Lagoon - is it worth the trip??

Looking forward to it....if we can avoid the tummy bugs I've been reading about!!

Thanks again

Hi toptastic

My family and I also went for the first time this year, We really enjoyed it. I think everyone has their personal favorite pools and restaurants, some depend on the age of your kids.

I've no idea what the weather is like in October as have only been to Olu Deniz in the main school holidays.

Hopefully you should still be able to eat at the Marina at night, so I would give that a try first and then the Residence. This was our favorite really despite the lovely sunsets at the Marina. I found the main village resturant too busy at night, but fine for breakfast. That was in peak season and you may find it your best bet in October, as its large, so has a huge choice of food and central.

Not sure if any of the pools are heated, I would imagine so, but smaller pools may be warmer in October.

I'm sure you will have a great time, but don't forget to come back on and let us know how it goes.

If you do decide to do any trips, (you may not as only a week) try to do ones that are for Lykia guests only. If you do general ones you are first to be picked up and last to be dropped off so a lot of time on a coach.

TC had started doing their own shopping trip into Fethyie as people were complaing about not getting to the market till 11 am, due to all the pick ups etc.

If it's your first time, I would go to both the reps meeting and the tour of the site that Lykia offer.

LOL we were posting at the same time. I really wouldn't worry about the tummy bug, Loads of people don't get it and it does seem to be mainly a high season problem.

Lykia is Full Board plus, not AI. It's breakfast, lunch and dinner and you get unlimited soft drinks - branded coke, 7 up, tango, litre bottles of red or white wine and Tuborg larger are included with meals. Plus all the tea and coffee you could drink.

We personally never drank the jugged water on the tables we always bought the bottled, couple of euros I think for a big bottle, but I was still poorly but only when I got home, so a bit weird this particular bug.

However, I ate endless amounts of salad, which nobody else in my party did (kids and salad ) Also you can't guarantee other guests hygeine and standards however careful you are yourself.

Hi Toptastic
the speciality restaurants aren't really better - just different. The food at the buffet restaurants is very good. The speciality restaurants have a set menu and waiter service (apart from the Turkish one which is also a buffet). When we go for 2 weeks we have night about between the buffets and the speciality ones. I like them all (haven't been since the new Japanese one opened) and they aren't that expensive.

Hello everyone! We are starting to think about next year's summer holiday (well we all need something to look forward to, right?!) and Lykia World sounds AMAZING for us and our 2 young children.
Sorry, I daresay I could get all the answers I'm looking for if I read through the whole thread but as I'm currently loaded with the cold and feeling miserable, I do hope you lovely and seasoned Lykia-goers won't mind answering my questions! :)
- Firstly, what is the difference between Village and Residence? Ours would be a party of 2 adults and 2 young children, so what room type would be best for us and where? I remember reading about room confusion in this particular resort.
- Which tour operator is the cheapest to book through?
- If I'm not wrong, LW operates on a half-board basis. However, I can only assume that all children's activities and entertainment are included - is this right? We are not a very sporty family, so hopefully we wouldn't incur too many 'extras'! Is all-inclusive an option?
Any tips or additional information would be appreciated. Anything very obvious is welcome as we know nothing about the resort! Thanks so much.

lardylegs,
we had our first visit this summer and I don't think you'd be disapointed if you go.

The Residence is more of a standard hotel layout, all in one block. It is more expensive but the rooms are generally larger and better appointed. The Village is much more spread out (more walking) and occupies the majority of the site. All facilities (restaurants/pools etc) are shared between the two accomodation areas. We were in the Village and found it to be more than adequate. Not sure how old your kids are, but a Village Family room would probably be ideal.

Likya World operates on Full Board basis only (no AI or half board) - the food is excellent with chips, pizza, spag boll etc. for fussy kids, plus a huge range of much more interesting food! Wine, beer and soft drinks are included with all meals - you only pay for drinks, ice creams etc at the bars - the bar drink prices are quite high, but there are water fountains around the resort so you don't have to spend a fortune, unless you want to !

The kids clubs are great, and mostly included in the price - they do charge for watersports, rock climbing and some trips, but there is always a free alternative.

I would recommend reading through as much of this thread as you can - there are loads of tips and useful bits of info that helped us hit the ground running from day one !

I found it significantly cheaper to book direct with the Likya World UK office ( w w w. lykia-world. co. uk ) and book flights direct (with TC in our case).
