Hi all of to Lykia World on the 3rd October for one week two adults and two teenagers, really looking forward to it. We were there last October for a week also, and had a great time.
The question I have is that last year when we went into the town in Olu Deniz we used Lykia World taxis, but I have heard that you can stop one of the mini buses near to Lykia World, is this correct? If so, where would we get the mini bus and how much does it cost?
Thanks in advance.
Moira
My understanding is that a dolmus (minibus) only passes LW once or twice a day, so it is not really practical to use it. If you did, you would stand on the road outside LW and flag it down. But first you would have to trek up to the entrance. I should just stick to the taxis, if I were you!
going to lykia half term, I have read on here previously that it is a good idea to email lykia to request rooms together. The thread is so long I cant find the post.
What is the email address?

have been following ths site for a while and we are going next august as couldnt afford this year.
i remember bring told to stay away from 'garden' room (?) - i think they are more like flats with no balcony etc.
am about to book with cosmos - the room they have offered me will either have balcony or terrace. can someone put my mind at rest and tell me i wont be in one of these rooms. cheap room i dont mind but not one of the dreaded ....
thanks so much anyone that can answer
To be honest we were given a garden room as our courtesy room this year, and I know we were only in it for an hour and a bit, but if it was a garden room or not being able to go at all, I would probably even accept one of these for the right price. We only spent from approx 5.30pm to 7.00pm in our room most days, (and obviously slept there as well).
I think another way to tell, although I am not an expert is that they only seemed to have one double bed and a very small L shapped arrangement in the corner, which would only sleep maybe one teenager or two very small children, so also the composition of your family may make it impossible for them to allocate one for you.
Did you get a good price from Cosmos ? I'm assuming you are going for one of the family rooms that sleep 2 adults and 1 or 2 kids in the main blocks in the village part.

tbh honest not sure where we will be. its only myself and my little boy who will be 7. it definetely does say terrace or balcony. but as we are going for the cheapest room they must give the garden ones to someone.
its not costing me anything as im paying with tesco clubcard points. which is why we are are booking with cosmos. Its £2200 for 21st aug - 6th september 2009 which seems cheap. wanted to go this year but left it so late was too expensive. coming up much cheaper booking in advance. no such thing as late booking anymore me thinks.
we went to the holiday village turkey instead and was there whilst in the midst of the dreaded tummy bug. there were some really sick people there and lots of others who jumped on the bandwagon.
thanks ill ring cosmos again and see if they can shead some light - although they wont give much away and dont know themselves.
definately have no terrace or balcony so you don't have one. Some tour operators don't use the Garden Rooms. Don't panic if your invoice says "Garden View". Most rooms have a view of the gardens as opposed to the sea. Hope you enjoy your holiday. It's a great place.
The Garden rooms I would go for it if I were you, it seems certain that it wont be a garden room and I think it will be ideal for you and your little boy. Sounds like a good price as its still in the school summer holidays. I know it's a long way off but enjoy yourselves.

What is the email address? I can only find the uk email address and not sure if this is the right one to make such a request

For room requests the central e-mail address worked for us this summer: lykia@lykiaworld.com
thanks DaveA
Thought I'd post this for people looking round to book for next year.
Never thought I'd go back to the same resort twice, but Lykia has me hooked. My daughter and I have been singing the Lykia World song all day!

Going to Lykia World on 8th June 2009, can anyone tell me, will it be warm ?, as I cannot remember as the last time we went it was end of June begining of July !!
evenings may turn a little chilly as well
like i said last time i went was last week of june begining of july, and it got to 52d - even into their record books
Hi Gregg, We were there end of May (23rd) last year, came home about the 8th June and the whole 2 weeks was lovely weather, temps always around 30c (some days higher) and the pools were absolutely fine, in fact you needed to keep going in and out of them to cool down! Evenings were lovely an balmy aswell, never wore the cardi's or sweat tops that we took
I think the weather will be better in early June than mid July (when I went last year)
it wont be that energy sapping heat you get over there in midsummer.
For anybody still looking to book, yesterday I was messing about on the Direct Holidays web-site, which is now part of Thomas Cook, and I got fairly reasonable prices for this summer. Two rooms for 4 people, for a fortnight, was approximately 4.5K which didn't seem too bad to me, considering what you get for your money and that is paying for 4 adults. It wasn't 100% clear from the web-site but I think this was the village not the residence, as it was saying 4*.
I checked a few same spec deals for the 5* hotels at Lara Beach and they were all more expensive than Lykia.

fancy going to lykia world but on researching there seems to be 3 how do i know if i am at the right one also family of 5 kids age 14 12 5 how ould that work do they do 2 0r 3 bed apartments and also wheres best part of it to stay near everything or say near main reception
thanks in advance
The one we are talking about on this thread is the Lykia world just outside Olu Deniz. The airport you would fly into would be Dalaman. This one has two sides to it on the one site. The village which is 'club style' and The Residence which is a hotel. Both share all the facilities on the site.. ie the 17 swimming pools, all the resturants etc.
You need to go onto a few holiday company web-sites and mess about with the rooms, as there are various sized rooms and you need to work out which is best for your party.
Some tour operators may even give you a child price for your 14 year old, provided they can find you a family room for 5. Otherwise you may need two rooms. Dont think there are any apartments at the Olu Deniz one, as it is full board plus, so no need for kitchenettes etc.
There is also one near Antalya, but I know little of this, I think it may be new, this may have apartments if that would suit you better.

Looking at Thomas Cook the prices were exortionate, ok so I know i'm late booking this but wow!
My friend recommended Lykia World & rebooked last year to go again this year in April. She paid £2,296.00 for 4 of them (same ages as above) in the village for 2 weeks in a superior room (I think that's what it was called?)
The price we were quoted going through Tulip Holidays, Tel: 020 8211 0011 (same as friend went through) for 1 week was £599 per adult & £289 per child flying from Gatwick. If we wanted an interconnecting family room it would cost an extra £200 - So £1,776 or £1,976 so we went for the Family Room at the extra £200
I asked how much it would be for 2 weeks & I was quoted that the Children's 2nd week would be Free!! with an extra charge of £390 per adult for the 2nd week. So all in all, £2,756.00 for 2 weeks. That's an average of less than £50 per person per day including flights, accomodation, transfers, meals, drinks with meals, kids clubs etc..........perfect!
For the same package exactly with Thomas Cook it was double the price! Seriously!
Aparantly, Tulip Holidays are direct agents of Lykia World or something like that & I couldn't find cheaper on the net after looking for days!!!
So have we paid in excess of what is normal for Lykia World or not? I would be really interested to know.
I can't wait to go, this will be our first family holiday abroard & our Honeymoon albeit 5 years late!! lol
