Hi folks
Happy new year to you all.
My hubby has booked flights to Malaga for Feb 10th for 3 nights.
We have never been to this area and would like your advice regarding areas and hotels.
We are both 37yr old and are looking for a relaxing hotel with the option of eating out type of visit .
The fun of xmas with 3 kids has tired us out.
No kids just mum and dad.
We have a budget of £150-£200 for our hotel cost ( could we get AI for that price ? ).
We would like to be no more than 45 minm - 1Hr from Malaga airport.
Some place by the sea/ harbour front would be nice for a wee walk and some tapas.
I was thinking of torremolinos............. .
Any advice greatly welcome.
If you are thinking of Torremolinos La Carihuela would be a recommended part to stay, its a picturesque old fishing district right on the sea front. I normally stay further down the coast in Los Boliches so cant advise on the quality of accommodation but there appears to be some fair deals on travel republic at the moment for the time you want.
Check out the sol melia hotels in Torrie. Quite often you get good rates in early season. 15 mins by taxi from Malaga Airport.
hi there i do the same kind of break with my friends every year, stayed in torromolinos, at the don paquito hotel staff are really friendly, you can do bed and breakfast or half board, there are plenty of restaurants around and a 15 min walk just up the hill to the town centre, and 5mins from beach, you can book this and a taxi transfer with travel republic, . hope this helps
I can vouch for the La carihuela area as we loved it there when we stayed over easter a couple of years ago. We've booked again for this Easter. We're staying in a very cheap and cheerful B&B which is in a great area. I'm sorry I don't know how busy it will be in february or how many bars/restaurants/shops will be open but I'm sure you'll find plenty to do there for 3 days.
Torremolinos is ideal for a short break - Benalmadena, Fuengirola too.
We were there last year at the same time and had good weather - we wore shorts during the day and enjoyed walks along the beach, stopping off at the bars for refreshments along the prom. I would suggest you opt for a beachfront location with a sea view.
No hotel booked yet , but like the look of La carihuela area as suggested by shirley and colinandrew.
Will let you know what I choose after doing a little more research.
Thanks again
Jac
Weather in Feb can be good low 20s, but be prepared to have rain.It rained last year when I was there around the 25th Feb. But it rained everywhere around that time. The Algarve had their wettest winter in 100 years.
Id spend the time in the city of Malaga and digest a bit of culture,It has everything including a beach. You could always have a bus ride to Torremolinos in the day.
Just an update from me. I booked the Hotel Roc Lago Rojo in the La Carihuela area with Expedia with HB £126 for 2 people for 3 nights,Iam happy with the price as we hope to spend our time out and about seeing the sights. The area looks ideal for going to Malaga and Benalmadena.
Could someone tell me what train station to use for the hotel and also if the train service runs on a sunday.
Thanks for all your ideas and helping us with our choices.
Jac
