oh my goodness- that is a busy schedule :yikes I do like going to more than one place on a holiday but don't think I could cope with that one :) What is the reasoning for Dubai- am I right in that you have relations there( seem to remember that).
To me Bali needs more than 5 days. But its your holiday not mine :D Do you want busy, or just want enough to give options for restaurants?
You have 4 nights in KL- do you have 3 clear days?
good choice of hotel for your first night. :tup Its a real scutter getting into the city from the airport.

Hi Fiona
A busy schedule I know.
I want to visit Borneo to visit Sepikok and Turtle island, but hubby does not want to spend too long there.
We plan to have have 3 nights in KL - not 4, but the flight to Dubai is middle of night so we have 3 clear days in KL.
Bali - well it was a toss up between Bali or Penang. Want an area not too busy but with somewhere to walk to.
Dubai - no we don't have relatives - but we love Dubai. It breaks down the homeward journey and stops the jet lag. We were thinking of trying the new Atlantis hotel.

These are only plans at the moment - we haven't booked the flights yet.

If you don't want to be in a busy area in Bali then I'd say Sanur will fit your criteria. Lots of lovely hotels within walking distance of some really nice restaurants both in the street and along the beach walkway.

You can do all your day trips from Sanur as it isn't too far from anywhere.

The Santrian hotels get good reviews and we have stayed at both the Puri and the Griya in the past year. However, I think the Griya Santrian is in a better position... go for the deluxe rooms near the main pool.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Geri

have to agree with Geri. The Puri is a great hotel but the Griya is in a better position

I agree with everybody else, "A heck of a big schedule" I am past the age of doing a few days here and a few days there, but as somebody else said it's YOUR holiday :) I go usually to Bali at least twice a year and I would say that it deserves more than the time you are suggesting you are going to be there. Pity because one of the places I would recommend especially for snorkelling would be Pemuteran (top left of the map) but it might be too far for just the time you are suggesting. Along the bay there are about 6 very small hotels, including a new one called Sari Amertha, under the same ownership as Taman Sarion the same beach. Don't bother with the larger Matahari Hotel in the next ba, too impersonal and expensive (not worth the extra). Ubud is also a good place, we stay at the Tegal Sari, very close to everything needed for a good old "shopping spree" but not noisy or too built up, overlooks lovely rice paddies, always something to watch with the farmers going about their business and good bird watching. I believe it also has two brand new villas, one is one bedroom and the other two (but can be let separately) both villas have pools, but the two bedroom one if let separately, the pool goes with the bottom bedroom, which also has a kitchen/sitting room. The one bedroom villa has a kitchen, but not a sitting room as such. I have also stayed in other good places, but found I didn't like the southern sea resorts because of the heat and the hawkers, although the Northern coast is also hot I find there is more breeze there, and certainly no hawkers. Hope this is of some help.
