We have stayed in the Travelodge few times now and have been happy with it, we have used the train and they have picked us up from the train station and returned us to the airport next morning for a charge of £7 each way per family which I think is good value.
On our next trrip from Manchester we are going to have to park at the airport and fancy using one of the hotels that have onsite parking, Travelodge don`t and it would be too much hastle to park away from them the get to the hotel. Also we won`t arrive at the hotel until around 7pm and we fly at 6am the next morning so time is limited.
I have looked at the Hilton, Bewleys and the Marriot, has anyone staye dat these and did you park your car ?
We always stay at a hotel the night before our flight, due to the fact that we like the odd tipple and also it takes all the stress out of getting up in the middle of the night and having to travel to the airport(just our preference).
We have stayed at the Marriot and it was very nice but whenever we travel from either Manchester or Leeds Bradford we now always stay at the Britannia (which was the holiday inn) and the price of the room includes up to 15 days on site parking and works out cheaper than the Marriot. There is a transfer to the airport and for Manchester airport it actually says it takes 20 minutes but we have never found that it does.
I hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks Linsi, which Britania is it? I have been wary of booking them before as the reviews haven`t been that good.
I`ve just had a look on their website and they only do a few transfers in the very early hours of the morning and they say that they are chargable, Linsi can you remember how much you paid and if they were not as frequent early morning?
Try looking on the Holiday inn at Altrincham Rd Wilmslow,SK9 4LR
For some reason i thought it had changed its name to Britannia (I know the Leeds Bradford one has). This one above is definitely the one that we used and it only took about 10 minutes to the airport. We had no complaints whatsover and the parking is on site. We actually booked so far in advance that we had transfer by taxi to the airport free of charge. I think there is a small charge now, about £3 per person per journey. We were able to arrange our taxi for whatever time we wanted, we just told them the time.
The cost is between £89 and £109 depending on when you travel, that includes, 1 night room only and up to 15 days on site parking.
I hope this helps a little more, soz for the confusion (must be a senior moment)

Thanks Linsi,I will have a look .
Most of this weekends threatened strikes at Manchester appear to be off (for now!). The exception is the fuellers working for ASIG who are still on course for Monday and part of Tuesday. Airlines have had time to sort out contingency plans, Thomson looks like being most at risk as they seem to have had a sole contract whereas the others already split the load with other fuel suppliers.
Hi, we are going to turkey on Monday from manchester terminal 1, and i have a question. Does the terminal 1 duty free sell a spirit called 'morgan spice'? Its some kind of rum i think.
if my source is correct they do sell it @ £11.99 a bottle or 2 for £16
but its probably best to give them a ring to confirm
the duty free area is now called 'Biza' and the number for T1 is 0161 489 3135
hope this helps
Andy
We were in the airport on the 17th August and they had Morgan spice on offer 2 bottles for £16, I would have bought some but was only going to the EU.
Does anyone know a good taxi company i could use to get me from West Yorks to Manchester airport, all the ones I have rung always say that they will call you back but they haven't and my holiday is getting closer..
Thanks

Moved and merged to Manchester Airport topic.
Thanks little legs, i will have a look at them...
We use airline connections from leeds maybe a shared mini bus but only £21.25 return and thats with 2 pick ups
Just a quick question, can you take sandwiches etc ( not drinks) through security at manchester. We did last year at durham tees valley but someone told me today you can't at manchester.
Thanks
Karen
You Can Most Certaintly Take Sandwiches Through Security At Any UK Airport, It Is Best To Make Sure Though That The Filling Is Not Too Runny.
And Remember You Can Not Take Drinks, Thoes You Have To Purchase Once You Have Cleared Security
Gower
You can take sandwiches through no problem as Gower mentions. Security restriction are set by the Department for Transport rather than the airports so it's standard throughout the UK and many parts of europe.

We've never flown from Manchester airport before. Which terminal will we be flying from to Kephalonia next August please. Also can someone reccommend a cheap hotel for us to stay the night before & on our return. We won't need parking, as we'll be going on the train. Thanks in advance.
Here is a list of which terminal for all airlines.
