Hi doepsmc,
I think more or less all the hoteliers and private apartment owners have adapted to the concept of d.i.y.holidays now and are happy to acommodate arrival and departure any day of the week (and not neccessarily for a round 7 or 14 days).Several of the no-frills carriers now operate scheduled daily services to Faro and we usually tailor the length of our stay to fit in with the cheapest flights - what you save on the flight costs by doing it this way can often pay for the extra nights acommodation.Just choose dates and ask your chosen accomodation owner if they're happy to fit in with your plans.Obviously, the sooner you do this, the better your chances will be.
Thanks Sagres
(Disclaimer follows...I have no financial interest in these aparments! apart from paying for my stay)
I have stayed in Vilabranca apartments several times and many are privately owned and some are rented by Thomson Travel, so the latter can be booked in a package. They have a free mini-bus service to and from Lagos and also the beach. although as Sagres states it is an easy walk DOWN to the town; taxi back costs 5 euros. There are also 2 swimming pools and a restaurtant/bar. However I find this to be a bit on the expensive side. But there is a very cheap supermarket immediately opposite as well as several very reasonable restaurants very near. These are one of the ones that I have considered as in the thomson brochure they get one of their 'gold medals' which are based on customer feedback. Also I beleive they have 2 bed apartments as well as one bed. The 2 beds work out a bit pricey through thomson though because of under occupancy and on the accommodation only sites I only seem to be able to price up the one bed ones.
Nothings ever straighforward.
Its nice to have some feedback from someone who has actually stayed there. Thanks for replying

A 2 bed with Thomson is 2400 for 2 weeks in July. which is a bit 'eyewatering' to say the least, considering you have everything else to find in terms of food and carhire.
When do you go to the Marina Park?
It shouldn't be too long before Easyjet release their Summer schedule. If you register with them they should email you when they come out. If you get in quick, you should be able to get reasonable price flights, even during the school holidays.
Thomson and FC have flights, but I wouldnt call them particularly cheap, so I am waiting on Easyjet to see what they can come up with.
I can see why you booked the marina park as they come up as such a good deal on wintersunshineholidays for what look like good quality apartments and they have the choice of 1 and 2 beds, I haven't ruled them out myself. I hope you have a good time. Next summer seems an age away.
