Hi everyone
We go to Olu in a few weeks time having been there last year for our first visit (1st time EVER returning to the same place!) anyway, when there last year we went to the Market in Fethiye but I can't remember what day it was on . . .*think* it was a tuesday? Can anyone confirm that is the actual day it is, and also, what is the best way to get there from Olu?
Last year we went on a trip through one of the agents but it was such a rush and it was also later in the day when we got there . . .wondered what time in the morning they open/start and the best way to get there. Im considering hiring a car, but having seen some of those roads last year when a local took us out for a drive Im hesitant LOL Would the dolmus be our best bet? If so, where do we catch it? We never used it at all last year . . .
Also, Ive seen mention a market in Hisaronu, and seeing as we didnt venture to Hisaronu in the whole 10 days we were there we want to go this time (we being my 7 year old and me!) if so, where abouts is it and what day is it on? My boy wants to stock up on his football kits LOL
As for the dolmus, where in Olu do we get it? And is it right that you can flag it down anywhere?
I was wondering if it would be possible to "hire" a taxi for the day along with the driver, and if so, is there anywhere that may do this?
Any help would be appreciated . . . .
We did venture out of Olu last time, but made friends with one of the locals who was happy to drive and take us but, want to do it on our own this year, so any help would be great
Thanks guys . . .
22 sleeps and counting . . .Also, if any other single parents are going to be out there between 29th July and 12 August, it would be great to hear from you, we are staying at the Karbel
Thanks
Karen x
The dolmus will stop by the markets and most people will get off, Hisaranou market is just off the main road you will see it. Fethiye is bigger but quite a few of the stalls go to both.
Have a great time!
thank you so much for taking the time to reply, your response was most helpful
And will certainly check out the taxis there too. Will bear in mind what you said about getting on the dolmus, we didnt use them at all last year and I am still unsure if I want to brave driving.
We fly out and home on a tuesday, so will have to venture there on the middle tuesday, which will please my son as he is so mad about football he does like his football kits LOL
If anyone else has any info, hints or anything that would be welcome too.
Thanks once again
Kind Regards, Karen x
My name is Alison, will be staying at the Karbel from the 4th Aug until 11th Aug with my 2 children. Single parent myself, 1st time in Turkey.
I know it can at times be a lonely thing being a single parent, especially if the kids make friends and disappear LOL
Just to add, it cost us 3.5ytl to Fethiye (adults) single.
We were advised to go in the afternoon as sooooo hot in the day. The market seems to go on until about 6-7pm .... if not laterand we got there by 330pm and was in full force. Still hot but no where near as stifling as earlier in the day.
