Ive never been Ovacik so I cant vouch for that, but Marmaris ive been going for a good 4 or 5 years and its perfect. Just a short trip to Icmeler as well :)
Any more info on Marmaris PM me, i go in 5 days hehe :)

theres a huge difference between these 2 place so just depends what you're looking for, marmaris is very lively so lots of bars, shops restaurants etc and beach not great but icmeler next door is better, ovacik is a mountainous area near olu deniz/hisaronu not a lot in ovacik but hotels and apts but if you dont mind a short dolmus or taxi ride of about 3 miles then olu deniz is gorgeous with a lovely lagoon area, small town with a few bars ,shops and restaurants, hisaronu is not far from ovacik depending which side you would be staying, this is busier than olu for shops ,restaurants and bars but no beach so you would need to go to olu deniz for the beach which is about 1 1/2 from hisaronu but everyone has different ideas what they are looking for i personally prefer olu deniz as its so scenic

Hi thanks guys for the info still unsure I love scenic view and chill out places but also like markets and good beaches, seems like ovachik has what were looking for but I dont lke windy rds near the cliff edge to drive down is it like that ???

Hi Gracie,
It seems like Ovacik is the place for you then, there is a windy road down to Olu Deniz itself but not really cliff edge stuff and has recently been widened.
As for markets there is one at Hisaronu on Mondays i think, and then Tuesdays there is a much larger one at fehtiye which is about 10 mins away by dolmus ( i'm sure someone will correct me if i got the days wrong ) :D
The road betwwen Dalaman and the Olu Deniz area used to go over a mountain and lots of people did not like that, but last year there was a tunnel built that goes right through the mountain so even the transfer is ok now aswell.

oh that sounds good as I cant stand skinny cliff edge roads ....phew......i would die of heart failure..... hubby is worried there is nothing for the kids and does not fancy jumping in a taxi to go everywhere ? do you think this will be the case, last yr we went to goa it was fab lovley beaches quiet and busy all in one busy if you want it,but cant afford it this year ,I can only go on turkey knowing what I know ,I went to bodrum 17 years ago.!!!It was good there .no beaches though had to travel to gumbet, still enjoyed it there.

Hi Gracie,
No worries with the kids, loads to do, they love kids in Turkey, I recommend that you get on a dolmus and go down to Olu Deniz Beach, it is lovely, but a bit pebbley.
However if you go to the lagoons private beaches they are the best, all you pay for are the sunbeds and brollies which is the same everywhere in Turkey, and on the lagoon there are no motorised craft allowed so it is very safe.
I really would'nt bother with the taxis, everyone in turkey uses the local transport systems, ( dolmus ) frequent and cheap,

If you tell us where the deals are to,people can advise you which is the best hotel/apartment as there are some nightmare places in both resorts.

Yes Graciebluecat I agree with the last post.

We love Hisaronu, and Olu Deniz but stayed in Ovacik last October on a "cheap" deal and the hotel was awful, so if you tell us the name of the hotel can advise you much better.
I personally would never take my children to the hotel we stayed in in Ovacik, but for a resort its great as its very scenic and near to Olu Deniz and Hisaronu.

Hi Gracie

Sorry dont know the Green Apartments in Ovacik, but if the reviews are good I would go for it. Its a very cheap deal!!! :D

Green valley apartments are in good position in ovacik you can easly walk into hisaronu where there are loads of bars restaurants shops dolmus is not needed and the private beaches on the lagoon, come and pick you up from your accomadation and bring you home so your not paying dolmus fares which can add up if there are a few of you, we go to Billys beach he is a lovely guy and has even sent a taxi for us when his mini bus was out on a pick up.When we returned in June we picked up at Green Valley as we were with H4U and the people returning couldnt fault hope this helps
