there are loads of restaurants and bars in ovacik but just a short dolmus ride is the lively resort of hisaronu or in the oposite direction the main town of fethiye

Dolmus(mini buses, very cheap) regularly run to Fethiye where there is a beautiful harbour, also, there is a huge weekly market on a tuesday, from the bus station in Fethiye you can also get to Kalkan. Dolmus also run to Olu Deniz and the Greek Ghost Village. Look at the windscreens, there will be a sign telling you where they are going, if that is where you are going, just put your arm out and they will stop but in any case they will toot at you anyway.

Restaurants in Ovacik are Yoruk Sofrasi and Pasa Sofrasi(proper Turkish establishments), located on the Fethiye Road just outside Hisaronu. Hisaronu is only a short walk and restaurants we used were Honeymoon, Friar Tucks, The Turkish Ivy, Oasis and Robin Hood.

We usually take £100 worth of Turkish Lira to get us started and take the rest in sterling. We then look for the best exchange rate when walking around, beware, some places charge commission. Make sure that you've each got a £10 to put in your passports on arrival in Turkey for your visas. I emphasise that it MUST be a £10 note in EACH passport, they won't accept £20 notes.

Big tip - Don't buy any food or drink in Dalaman airport - the prices are extortionate. Take something with you to eat or drink in there whilst you wait on the return leg. Ovacik/Hisaronu/Olu Deniz and Fethiye are all great places for different reasons. You'll have an amazing time - enjoy!

sorry but i have to disagree with you cruisecontroller, we go to turkey up to 6 times a year and ive been going over 27 years and i have never had problems giving a £20 note to them for a visa, i just say this is for 2 and thats always been fine, so they do accept £20 notes

Also make sure its english bank notes, on our first trip to Turkey we didn't know anything about this. Being from Scotland we handed over our scottish notes but they would'nt accept them, good job hubby had some english notes in his wallet.
