can someone just clear this up for me,staying in ovacik near hisaronu next year in august but how do you say it when poeple ask are you going away next year and i say yes turkey again they say oh yes where abouts,erm.Cheers.
Chris.
I always pronounce it 'Overchick', but if you want to be really correct you should say 'Ovvajig'.
Where are you staying??
Anything you want to know about the resort, or Hisaronu or Olu Deniz, fire away, will be happy to help.
Sue
i agree ovacik, is pronounced ( or as near as we can get to it is )ovachic, however the local dialects change a little and they cannot pronounce ' v ' they speak turkish quicker than we ever could so it sometimes comes out as it has already been pointed out as sounding like owachik.
kev
like the way you got your tongue round that kevin , the main point are the local dialects alot of the workers now are not true villagers
Erm staying in private apartment on the pinara complex
thats a nice complex you should enjoy it
So just how far would it be to the nearest restaurants and markets,i expect it is going to be quite a way out, been to icmeler for the past 5 years so how does it compare.Cheers...
your nearest market is on mondays and that is in hisaronu restaurants are all very close but the main ones are hisaronu or fethiye but on the main road there are restarants ,on tuesdays there is the big market in fethiye or on a saturday they have a turkish market with better prices in tasika there is also a market in calis trust me you will be spoilt for choice on places to eat and drink in the surrounding area dolmus buses are cheap form of travel
What about tansas or migros any in mentioned resorts.Cheers.
migros and gima are in fethiye or azda in hisaronu but lots of mini markets around that area
Cheers for all info cant wait now, went to a mates last night and she showed me a video that she did when she went to saklikent looked a good day out.
Saklikent is brilliant. it was my sons favourite day of the whole holiday. (well that and getting a load of cheap game boy games!). Enjoy.

Enjoyed watching that thanks,it makes me want to be there right now.Cheers.
if you are in to trips, i suggest you do not book through your rep, but go down to Olu Deniz and book them there.
Try a place called Easy Riders, which is on the beach front. The trips are really cheap and really good.
they also have a branch in ovacik, saw it when we were there in Oct.
Dolmus to Olu is 2.5ytl from Ovacik. or it costs roughly 15ytl for a taxi each way.
Hisaronu is a 10 min downhill walk from Ovacik along the main road. There is no lighting across the village dirttracks.
Another recommendation would be the peking chinese restaurant, the first one you come to as you enter Hisaronu from the main road from Ovacik.
It is £5 for the buffet eat as much and order as much as you like, with a free bottle of wine thrown in. Can honestly say it was one of the best chinese meals I have ever had, and such good value and service.
Any other questions, dont hesitate to ask.
Sue
Hi sue yes we are into trips i wouldnt book with reps any way fell for that one many years ago in crete what a rip off, going to a privatly owned place this year so there arnt any reps, yes you are right so good value going with local tour places, a fraction of the cost of the big operators,There is a chinese in icmeler where we normaly go and yes food there was stunning didnt recon much to the wine though stuck with the efes in the end you cant go wrong with that can you.Cheers.
