Depending where you are staying (we are off to Playa Del Carmen in 10 days time), since we were over last year they have now opened up a Coco Bongo in Playa which we have every intention of visiting.

Pirate ship I can't comment on as we haven't tried that trip.

Xel-Ha is basically a large freshwater inlet where you get in the water and drift down at your own pace snorkeling with plenty of fish to see, there is also dolphins and various other activities to try or just unwind as well as several restaurants and bars all included if you buy the all inclusive admission. We went to Chichen Itza a couple of years ago, well worth the trip although it's a long day some of the Mayan remains are fascinating.
