acorns8,
The seat map online reflects only the standard monarch fleet. These new ex GB A321 aircraft currently hold 207. By the time you travel it is planned they will have been reconfigured to the standard 214 configuration to fall in line with the rest of the fleet so you should still be able to get the row in front of the exit seat.
I remember the question you ask regarding the "fleetbooked" status having been asked somewhere but I can't remember if it was ever answered and, if it was, what the answer was. However, I am pretty sure that it has something to do with the varying configuration of the A321 in this area. As far as I can see, the seats that seem to be annotated in this way are 9A and rows 8 and 9 DEF.
Basically, sometimes a number of these seats simply do not exist. Unfortunately, it is impossible for Monarch to know exactly which aircraft is likely to be operating a flight until nearer the day. Because of the many different variations of the A321 seating in this area, I believe Monarch have simply blocked these seats off to avoid disappointment of those expecting to get a particular seat.
On some A321 aircraft because of a larger galley area in front of the seats located on the starboard (seats D E & F) side, there is effectively a row of seats missing and so the seating in the front section of the aircraft becomes staggered. So, to the right of row 1 ABC is a galley area, and then to the right of row 2 ABC is 1 DEF, 3 ABC is 2DEF and so on, up to row 9. For this reason, it may be the case that there is no row 9 on seats DEF side; then at row 10 the seating becomes aligned again. Moreover, at the back of the front section of seats at row 9, there are sometimes 2 seats and sometimes 3.
I believe it is because of this missing row and the different configuration that they have been "fleetblocked"
I hope I haven't confused you too much and that this offers some sort of explanation to your question.
I think i may have asked the 'fleetbooked' question before but dont think anyone knew the reason.
no, you havent confused me with your very detailed reply.
Our seats were surrounded by these greyed-out ones but the Monarch cust service people could not answer the question.
I just wanted to be sure I havent wasted money paying for something thats unavailable.
9B/C are detailed as having the exit behind and the row 10 is 2+2.
many thanks for your time and effort in replying
Andy
SIL is going to Zante on the 9th July for 10 days arriving back in Manchester on the 20th July...Flight is MON1217 but not sure of time it arrives in airport?
The information I have shows that this arrives back on the 19th at 2255 but you should check this with your travel agent / tour operator
I wonder why they give you broadsheet newspapers on planes. Is it so they can chuckle at you trying to read it and turn the pages without elbowing the person next to you?
I wonder why they give you broadsheet newspapers on planes.
tell me about it a couple of years back we traveled on Sunday on our seats was one of the heavyweights broadsheets i don't know why we got one each we could comfortably read it 3 abreast
Anyone heard anything more about the cabin crew strike ballot that is supposed to be taking place this month?....I'm getting nervous as I'm due to fly with them in under two weeks time an am really hoping there won't be any industrial action.
Hotel stayer,
The information I have been told is that the cabin crew union have cancelled the ballot to strike and a new improved offer has been put to its members. We are still awaiting the results of this ballot. I hope this clears a few things up for people
thanks for letting us know, can sleep a bit easier now !
Hi! quick question, why do monarch scheduled flights from luton to tenerife take 4 1/2 hours, ive done this route before and it took me only 4 hours!!
mon5318 gatwick to rhodes 17/06/09 this was a300 gmons
mon5319 rhodes to gatwick 01/07/09 & this was a300 gmonr
must say these were both nice smooth flights , when on these 2 old planes u would not think they were 19 years old, gmonr could do with a paint job
It depends which flight you are on, but the A321's are a little slower than the 757's in cruise for example.

Flight times can vary quite considerably on the same route depending on a number of factors. Two of the main factors are whether there is a strong tail wind which can assist considerably in decreasing the length of time it takes an aircraft to arrive at its destination; and traffic, which can cause a flight to be given a more or less direct route than other flights traveling to the same destination.
There was also a report made by the BBC that claimed that some airlines specifically choose particular routes to avoid charges levied by air trafic control in countries over which the airline would otherwise have flown to reach its destination: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7124021.stm
I'm just trying to get some confirmation of my aircraft type for my flight to Hurghada from LGW in 2 weeks time, as I've heard it's either an A330 or A300, can anyone confirm for definite:
Outbound - Fri 17th July - MON3478
Return - Fri 24th July - MON3479
Any help gratefully appreciated.
Also what are the extra legroom seats like on A300/A330 as I've paid the extra £70 for the privilege. I've been on the A300-600 before in seat 1A on my way back from Faro a few years back, and wasn't overly impressed, is that considered extra legroom?
Regards,
LCY.
The A330-200 and A300B4-605R are both used on your flights, it's a 50/50 split. partyboy_uk posted the extra legroom seats on all the types Monarch operate here. A1 at the front of the A300 is indeed extra legroom. Because it's a bulkhead seat though, you can't stetch your legs out like you can in an exit row seat.
Darren
He has a passport cover, will that help.
LCY both of your flights are definitely down to be on the A330. I would say booking extra legroom on this aircraft is a good idea. Have a great time
I have booked a holiday for next year and its flying with Monarch from Manchester. Can you pre-book extra space seats with Monarch or book your seat like you can with Thomson, Thomas Cook etc? Darren
You are able to book extra legroom seats on all Monarch flights. Whether you will be able to select a specific seat or not will depend on whether your flight numer is preceded by MON (a charter flight) or ZB (a scheduled flight).
For MON flight numbers, you will not be able to request specific seats, but you can pre-book seats to ensure that you are sat together, and you can also pay for extra legroom seats. For ZB flight numbers, you can pre-select your seats and also pay for extra legroom seats. More information on seating can be found here: http://flights.monarch.co.uk/cnt/travelinfo/seating.asp
If you have made your booking through a Travel Agent and you want to request specific seats on a ZB flight then you would be best advised to contact your Travel Agent who should be able to do this for you. However, be advised that there is a charge for this which I am sure your Travel Agent will pass on to you. If you would like to see a seat map of the plane you are travelling on (only applies to a ZB flight) then you can simply do a "dummy" booking on the Monarch website for the date and times you are travelling. After you have input some details, you will be able to see a map of the plane and which seats are available to book. Once you have done this, you can simply quit the booking process without going any further.
Any problems, then please ask.
