does anyone know if i can use my HSBC maestro card in the goan ATMs? it has the cirrus symbol on it also.
I think i got charged around 2pounds each time i used it, and the exchange rate was 75 rupees to the pound.
Hope this helps

fantastic, that is exactly what i wanted to hear.
You might be able to in major shops, but i wouldnt think you would find many.
I also had trouble at Goa airport duty free. It wouldnt accept my card, so i had to pay with cash.
MyTravel airways didnt take my card when i tried buying drinks and sweets in the air, i think they said its because they need a phone line to process my card, but they take visa.
thats what i thought
still 77rupees to the pound its been that for over a week now
10 Ruppees = about 13p
100 Ruppees = about £1.30
1000 Ruppees = about £13
I think of the Ruppees being pennies and basically divide by 100 and add a third.

got £20 worth of rupees from lloyds bank today,rate:69.51 to the pound.they would only let us have £20 which at that rate i'm glad! i just wanted them for the taxi.is this the worse rate yet?

Off to Goa (Candolim) for the 1st time on Monday (booked over a year ago so can't wait

Please share your tips

Just back from 10weeks in Candolim, used Nationwide card for all our spending monies, no problems at all, looking at the rate we got it was better than the rates offered there for either cash or travellers cheques (only slightly better but still) for the last couple of years this is all we have used apart from a little cash in case of emergencies )

Yes it was as high as 80 when we arrived at the beginning of December but dropped to between 76.20 and 77.40 for cash, most of what shows on our Nationwide statement is over 77.00, hope this helps
