Hi, most of the photos were mine from July this year. Yes some mornings the skies were abit muggy and grey but there was nothing to worry about as by 11, 12 oclockish the blue skies were there and it was very hot 40+ some days. Dont be put off by the grey skies though as we still burnt and it is still very hot
Hi All
I used the taxis all the time i was in Agadir but not to go that far of a distance.
Hope this helps
hope he has a good holiday
We are going to Agadir a week on Monday. Do you know what type of currency you son has taken with him? We have a few US dollars left, or would Euros be better?
Don't intend spending much as we are AI, and not 'into' shopping.
Will be nice to hear what your son has to say about the place. Is he the one who got married last September? Saw the photos, it looked like a lovely wedding.
LOL Marn.
when we travelled to Agadir last July we just took sterling and changed it up as and when as we too were AI. We had a currency exchange at the hotel so just did it as we needed to. It was very cheap over there
I sent you a PM yesterday, but, as yet, you haven't opened it.
What's the duty free like at the airport departures?
Thanks, Marn.
PS. I think we're going to the same hotel/resort as you went to. The El Pueblo Tamlelt, part of the Caribbean Village.
mikenmarn we went to the Carribean Village last year and we just changed our money in the speed bank at the hotel as we needed it, but you dont need much money there at all as you are AI and there is not much out of the hotel to spend your money on anyway.
Will let you all know how we went on.
is htere any english restaurants, and what is the price of food and drink i am staying at the Al Gonnar Garden Beach Club on a bed and breakfast holiday and never been to Morocco before
Went to Agadir last October. My partner is also a fussy eater, he did lose a few pounds during his stay on this holiday. There is a sports bar in Agadir, claiming they serve british food, we ordered english breakfasts, but not much english about it (we had german sausages). Hope u like Mcdonalds!!
Andy travelman, there is a pizza hut there as well, my daughter is a fussy eater but she was ok. We stopped all inclusive but on our final day she wanted to go to pizza hut. i do not think you will have any problems
seen a good deal to marrakech 3 nights but have no one to go with. would a woman feel ok alone not planning going off the beaten track just round souks market etc, hotel in new part. been to egypt but not alone.
I would think that there would be no major danger to you if you stay around other people and not wander too far off the beaten tracks (you should be ok in the souks!).
The word SHOOMA means shame on you in Arabic, and could be used to summon help if you are being overwhelmed.
I would advise you to dress very conservatively - no shorts, perhaps knee or calf length skirts and sensible t shirts (not with an obvious decollete). You will find that a light shawl and sunglasses will help you be a bit less obvious than most tourists. Do not make long eyecontact with the young men, and expect to sit in an area with other ladies in a cafe rather than on a terrace with the gents.
Bring plenty of tissues for loo paper, and collect 1 dirham coins as soon as you can for use for the loo. Politeness - 'merci beaucoup' is much appreciated.
Do book a reasonable hotel before you go - I WOULD NOT recommend looking for accommodation when you arrive - gives mixed messages.
Have a lovely time, and wear comfy shoes!
against going alone. I say this because I had the same idea a few years ago, and although I didn't get into any serious trouble, for the most part I had a most unpleasant time, continually having to fend off unwanted male attention and no, I was not dressing or behaving remotely provocatively! I had my head, arms and legs covered at all times and didn't drink, flirt or anything like that.
it was just a pain in the a*se more than anything! I would honestly recommend you take at least one travelling companion!
I on the other hand would advise it was just a pain in the a*se more than anything! I would honestly recommend you take at least one travelling companion!
