There will be loads of them, you will need a plugin for your bedroom and spray for the night time.
Its all down to the trees/grass and water in mallorca and as you know there is not any on tenerife as such.
A good tip a old greek bloke told me if you use Lemon soap they don't bother you so much, I do use lemon soap but a spray as well just to safe.

I think a lot depends what area of Mallorca you are in, the Pollensa and Alcudia area is a known mozzie "hot spot", we've been to Mallorca staying in the south west of the island the past two years and never seen one.

Either way, take the usual precautions and you should be ok.

I am off to C'an Picafort in August will there be mossies there?

We have been to Santa Ponsa lots of times and we have not had trouble with mossies. Read somwhere that if u eat Marmite the mossies leave u alone they hate the stuff! Also Avon Skin So Soft dry oil spray woodland (green label) has citronella in it and its effective too.We are in Santa ponsa again three weeks tomorrow ..love the place !!

Can Picafort - mossies, yes. Can Picafort lies next to the Albufera wetlands. Great area for mosquito breeding. Don't worry though. Just cover yourselves with Autan or some such and do use a plug-in in rooms.

We have been to Magaluf three times and normally its only the hubby that gets a few bites and they don't touch me - last year however hubby got the usual few and I got eaten alive even with my plugs and sprays etc!!

We normally go in either May or September but we went in July so perhaps it has something to do with the time of year?

Oh no!!! I don't know why, but the mozzies have always gone for me!!

I got bitten to bits last year in ibiza, and it looks like Im gonna get more than my fair share next week!!! :(

Oh well, take plenty of spray and cream, and I should be ok!!!! :? :) :)

I live in the south and have not been bothered as yet this year, but I do normally use a plug-in device to get rid of the little devils at night. Top tip - don't have your room door open if you have a light on !!!

We just got back yesterday ON THE 16THMAY07 and me and the wife were badly bitten by mossies, the temperatures were really high till monday and there was high humidity, coupled with no air-conditioning in our apartment,we had our door open and the little devils admittedly could have got to us there.
Although i felt a few nips when i was sitting by the pool to.
for the record we were staying at the Tropicana in Cala millor.

Two years ago got bit to death in Alcudia! Awful and they don't normally attack me!

Last year took no chances and used Avon So Soft spray - moisturiser in green bottle! Fantastic - not a single bit and smelt lovely!

Have fab time!

Trust me the way to keep mossies off is to eat marmite on toast and use Avon skin so soft woodland dry oil spray.....woohoo 13 days till Santa Ponsa and the forecast is in upper 20s......... bliss!!!

Dont know about the marmite but i will surely try avon so soft,in fact i will try anything to keep those little blighters away, wonder if the mossies hang around in late season as i am going back in october, anyone know?

We stayed in Puerto Pollensa last year and never had a problem with mozzies at all and we never used any plug-ins or sprays etc. We never seem to have a problem whenever we go abroad, guess they just don't like us

I always use Avon skin so soft after reading that Marine Commandos swear by it and use it in the jungle.........never had a problem with the blighters.

My grandparents stayed at the club mac hotels (alcudia) last september, and didnt get bit once.

We all went back there last week, and low and behold..... WE GOT EATEN ALIVE!!!!

They are a seasonal thing, so be sure to take out mozzie repellants, sprays, plug ins etc etc.........

we also noticed while we were ther that people had candles on there tables in a bowl..... Turned out that they are also used to keep the mozzies away when sat outside enjoying the night time entertainment.

Just go well prepared........ Also...... JUNGLE FORMULA is a good repelleant. It comes as a cream, and has a better smell compared to other repellants I have used. Its also a fair price at 5 pounds a bottle. :)

We have lived here 2.5 years and not really seen too many mozzies. April to June seems to be the main period we see them. We have bought a plug in called BLOOM and remarkably it works all night even with the windows wide open. They last 45 days so you can bequeeth yours to the next visitor!!

We are going to Alcudia in a couple of weeks. I have read on here about all the mozzies that are about.
Can anyone reccomend a ointment/cream that actually works please !!

thanks
