Hiya,
Can anyone tell me if there are mossies in marmaris in September? We went in may and people told us to take mossie stuff. I took loads and i never even saw one little sucker! (total waste of valuable shopping space in my suitcase, I could have fitted another bag in for that, lol!). I suffer really badly they blow up into big blisters so it would really help me to know.
I know it seems a bit strange asking about mosquitos when there are bombs going off but I kinda want to get off that subject so I can start looking forward to my hols again.
Thanks everyone,
love nikki xxx
Wish I could answer your query but I think I'm one of those lucky people that the mozzies leave alone ... somebody will have an answer though. I also think it's important to get back to the bread and butter topics on here while none of us will forget the recent events.
Have a great mozzie free holiday !

I wish the little buggers would leave me alone, think they must like the vodka in my blood!

Thanks Briar, I've already read that post. I have loadsa mosiguard and plug in thingies and lanacane for when the suckers get me, I just wondered if there were gunna be any there when we go!? It was weird that we didn't see any in may when loads of people said they were there. Just wondered if anyone has seen any there lately or last sept?
i came bak from marmaris on monday, didnt see and mozzies untill the saturday night when we were walking around the shops and they were everywhere, buy the time i came home i had 14 bites on my legs i have never been bitten in my life so i am right hacked off that i got all scabs over my legs
My friends came back from Marmaris last weekend -they were also bitten to death in the last few days .....just hoping that the 'Mozzie season' will be over soon .........though we don't go till October.
Oh no! Sounds like the little suckers have arrived. Best make sure I pack loadsa mosiguard!
Think the mozzies must know when you are returning home-so you take a present back from them, ha. I went to Turkey 6 years ago in the September and never had one bite until the night before we were due to leave. Itching on the plane i was-n i thought i had been lucky!
I always take plenty of repellent, and the week before take odurless garlic capsules daily. Due to the fact i suffer from prickly heat, take anti-histamine tablets a week before also.
Have tried this twice this year, in Majorca May and Cyprus July. Touch wood very sucessful! Lets home them mozzies are kind to me this Sep and lay off my sexy body, haha!
Roll On 11th
aww There always there when Im there!!!!!!!!! I get them non stop Yes they will be there Sorry nikki Wee went in october last year and i got bit to death
I Hardly Ever Get Bitten But This Year I Got Bitten Loads. Was Awful They Were So Bad and They Were Really Itchy,Me and My Auntie Aint Been Bitten So Bad.Eventually Got Rid Of Them and Then On The Last Day I GotThree Right Next To Each Other. We Bought Some Good Liquid Thing To Put On Them But It Stunk (Like Ammonia) and It Stung..Not Sure What Its Called As It Was All In Turkish I Think But It Was In A Yellow Thin Bottle With A Pin.
Nikki, yes they will be there. My husband and i don't suffer too much but like you my daughter has an allergic reaction and swells up. A few years ago she had to be given an injection whilst on holiday due to this. I take all the usual stuff but also pack antihistamines and these have helped. Enjoy your hols
why by the mossi stuff in the uk when you can buy it here for next to nothing, look out for Sinek off! great stuff, or but one of them liquid bottle things that you plug in,
Mozzies are out in force in Hisaronu, we have just come back and we were bitten to death to. We liked eating at a resturant called the Sun Trap, we named it the Mozzie Trap!!! in 1 night I got 6 bites and my husband got 7 it left us ill during the night so we had to go back to the hotel for a earlie night to find they were in our bedroom to.
did your mother not tell you to take precautions ?
Good to see you haven't seen any turkster!
Thanks,
love Nikki xxx

HI all It is futile to kill the little B's as ten million relatives always come to the funerals . Regards wee-john
vitamin b1 works a treat also and it is also a appitite supressant works a treat xxxx jan
You can't have an appitite supressant in Turkey! Far too much yummy food to be had. I fully intend to put on a stone while I'm there!
Despite taking garlic tablets for a week before I went, the little critters still got me. I was itching as soon as I got on the transfer bus to Marmaris.
On waking the following morning I had no less then 15 bites.
A visit to the Eczane (chemist) followed where I bought some OFF! (cost 8YTL, about £3 or so). I had taken anti-histamine cream and tablets with me (which I took for a couple of days to ward off any infection).
From that evening on, after my shower, I sprayed myself from head to toe (not my face though) with OFF! before applying my normal body spray. I also had a plug-in repellent thing in my room.
Result - no more bites the whole week.
One thing I did find useful - I had taken a can of misting spray with me (basically water in a pressurised can) which I kept in the fridge. I used this if I woke during the night when the bites started to itch - instant relief.
