The Flight
Check In
Very smooth and easily plane was going to be on time very happy to be their. No one was queing even though there was only 4 hours to go.
After Check In
I had a strole up to the level 13 of the car park to spot the DC10 G-TOAS of MyTravel (NOW Not In Service). It was in the engine testing bay, not a good sign to start with.
However I thought that maybe they would have got it fixed because the pulled it over to the gate and put the airbridge up to it.
Departuers Lounge
2 hours later, the board displayed DELAYED, went to see if the plane was their and instead it had been tugged into the engneering base.
After a total delay of 8 hours and only 1 drinks voucher offered the flight was due to leave.
Yes! in theory.
The aircraft being so big was split into two smaller aircraft both from the MyTravel fleet. We were told our bags would be split accordinly which actually they wernt.
Boarding finally, or maybe not as this case goes. Through the gate into the tunnel, no pilot or co-pilot so we had to stand in a tunnel that had a temprature guage reading 32degress for 1 hour.
On the aircraft for taxi or not as this case goes.
3 hours sitting on a swealtering hot plane in crampped legroom. No drinks were offered, of course the cabin crew had a drink, nice cup of coffee. Nice for them.
Takeoff - yes as this case goes a total of 10 hours late, not bad!!!
As we were told our bags would be slipt acrrodingly, which they werent they were on the wrong aircraft. The passangers who were on G-CCMY (nice new plane) were on our aircraft and our aicraft (G-PIDS oldest 757 in existance) were on the other aircraft. However they did not take off at the same time so we had to wait 1 hour in larnaca, with no reps and no bags.

POOR!
1 maybe 2 star standard here. Rooms were filthy, old fashioned and very outdated. I dare not venture into the toilet. The third bed for a THIRD adult was a CAMP Bed, impossible to sleep on, so three adults had to share 2 single beds. Totally not acceptable.
The next morning i ventured down to the reception to see the rep about our welcome pack, oh yes there was a welcoming meeting, not that we had been informed. We had booked the £10 pack, it hadnt arrived so we told him. 3 hours later there was the £5 pack. The REP refused to change it. He also refused to change the bed, and there was no way of moving, this was the hight of summer not one spare rooms anywere.
I thought dare i venture outside, well i did, there's a little fish ponds they call the pool. Oh my god. The brochure has a way of making it look big.
You had to fight for space on the beach just in front, if you didnt get there before 09:30 plan something else.
Toward the end of the holiday we was talking to a waiter in a bar, he asked us where we was staying, we said "the golden star", he said "oh, yes that place" with a stern look. He shared our thoughts about the Golden star.
Oh yes and did i mention there was no rep from day 2 to day 14. Not one rep. The phone number did not work either.
The complaint
We wrote a letter to My Travel detailing all our complaints about the flight and the hotel. 2 months later we received a letter, basically saying you get what you pay for and a £10 holiday voucher.
So we shredded that and sent it back in an envelope. 3 weeks later we got a reply, SAME letter, it just had a £10 cheque instead. Shredded it and sent it back to them.
Couple of months later they sent SAME Letter with £10 cheque, we shereded that and sent it back.
To this day TWO years later i am waiting for the compensation i am due for that terrible experience.
