Hi.
Have just read that the first stone was laid yesterday for the new Promenade alongside Poniente Beach, that is going to cost €13.3 million.
I hadn't heard anything about this, I hope its not going to cause too much disruption
Lizzie.
Hi, returned home from beni 3 weeks ago after a glorious week at les dunes suites on levante..a word of warning really there is long term road works all along poniente (whilst they build a promenade similar to levante)..a taxi driver said he thinks the road works will last about 3 years..so if anyones thinking of staying at a hotel/apparments on poniente i would think again..just a thought..byee & happy hols
I think work started in October/November. It was up to the Poseidon Playa just before Christmas and is now a bit farther along than that.
Disclaimer: I haven't seen it myself for a few weeks but my partner drove along there yesterday and said there was more dug up than last time we drove along there.
I don't know why they don't join up Avds Mexico and Uruguay across the wasteland behind the hotels and pedestrianise that promenade. One thing that must stop so many people staying at the Poniente end is having such a busy road right along the beach. I can happily send the kids to get ice creams from Levante beach, I wouldn't do it on Poniente!
Agree about the busy road, it would be better pedestrianised all the way. That is the only thing putting me off booking along that end.
These works will apparently widen the pedestrianised section of the promenade to three or four times its existing size. This will be at the expense of hundreds of parking spaces, which is of some concern to residents and local business. However, the dual carriageway is also expected to be scaled down in size, with the volume of traffic in the area being considerably reduced.
I belive that it is nearly finished can't wait to see it. and will open at the end of June. Please do us a video Sanji
She is away on holiday for two weeks at the moment.
What do you think of the new Prom on the Poniente Beach? Is the road open now and as anyone got any pictures.
It was still one way along that road too. Don't know if it is staying that way or not. The upgrade got rid of a hell of a lot of parking spaces, so I wonder where everyone will park.
I walked along it a few days ago and its lovely. I've taken lots of pics so will try and get them put on here
Best Regards
Elaine
When you look close, these are miles of round tiles with bits of "triangles" laid in between the circles......what a task.!

Still one way last week, heading down in the direction from the old town (bottom of Jaime1) to La Cala.
It's looks like that's the way it's going to be.

Brill pics Sanji, your def, up there with the best. We are heading down there in June, hope Dave is keeping ok, after all the hold ups you had trying to get home.
I think they have made it very attractive and we enjoyed walking along the promenade several times when we were in Benidorm in January.

the colour balance in those pics are awful. You should check your settings.

That's not a very nice comment, when someone has been good enough to upload pics on here so members can get an idea as to what the Poniente promenade looks like.....
Come on then luv2tan, I'm looking forward to seeing your photo's!!!
I need to check my settings? I'll give you a few clues......look at the sky and look for the shadows, the fact that it was overcast and threatening to chuck it down with rain, even though it was still warm and had been sunshine earlier in the morning, hence the people on the beach, maybe this could be the the reason and it doesn't help having to reduce the photos down in size.????????????????????????????
Somebody remind me of why I bother ?????????
