Hi,
I am due to arrive in New Yorl on the 29th of October and i will be there till the 2nd of November. What i am wanting to know is what sort of clothes will I need?? Heavy warm coat or just a fleece? Long sleeved tops or short sleeved tops with maybe a cardy???
I am then travelling on to Warm/hot countries after New York so dont want to be taking warm clothing if I will not need it in new York. I will also be spending 3 days after New York in Madison Connecticut so not sure if the weather there will be the same as New York.
Any help will be grateful

We took big huge coats, fleeces, scarves, gloves....pretty much the lot to be honest and didn't need most of them. It was into double figures most days and I was sweating especially in department stores, restaurants etc.
I would recommned checking the weather out at some point and then just going with a light fleece and a few long tops for underneath.
We pretty much get what NY has weatherwise a few weeks later, and I haven't seen snow in November for ages. Now if your trip was Feb/Mar it might be a different matter of course.

I've cut and pasted what it says about each month for you below -
October Weather:
Average High: 65°F (18°C)
Average Low: 50°F (10°C)
October is a beautiful month to visit New York City.
What to Wear:
a sweater or medium weight jacket (for keeping warm in the evenings)
closed toe shoes, comfortable for walking and water-resistant, if possible
November Weather:
Average High: 54°F (12°C)
Average Low: 41°F (5°C)
New York City weather in November can be chilly, but snow is unlikely.
What to Wear:
sweaters, a warm, windproof jacket, long pants
closed toe shoes, comfortable for walking and water-resistant, if possible
you may find gloves or a hat helpful in keeping warm, especially at night and later in the month
hope that helps
