With regards to space on the plane. This sounds like a blanket respose to a short haul flight, an A330 would NEVER have to levae bags behind for space reasons!!!!! Unless there was someone seriously wrong with the plane, you may need to leave a bulk of bags....not one.
True this comment does not help, it is plain false

If this comment is in writing it's an absolute gift to the complainant, used correctly could get banner headlines in the press. Lost baggage is probably the cause of the greatest number of complaints against the whole of the tourist industry, this is a big public interest issue.

why should you have to do that?? When you try to sort your problem out when you get home, you just get the brush off.
If you don't like it, what choice of alternative tour operator is there? If holidaymakers allow them to continue to act like this the situation will only get worse. Surely as all the posters on this forum ARE holidaymakers, we should ALL be behind Pauline.
I think Pauline should push Thomas Cook as far as possible with a full refund being the starting point for negotiation and I, for one, wish her all the luck in the world.
With only Thomsons, Thomas Cook and Cosmos being practically the only tour operators nowadays there really isn't very much choice. I think they all act like they can treat you however they like with little regard for the fact that you've saved all year for this fortnight. They are being paid to ensure you get the holiday you book. Like Pauline said, if you order steak and get a burger you'd be wanting your money back. Wasting days of your precious holiday chasing a resort rep around for some kind of resolution to your problem isn't really conducive to a relaxing holiday and If you don't like it, what choice of alternative tour operator is there? I do think however that in posting what you have just said in some ways in taking you down to their level. Not everyone here would criticise you and it may have been your request for a full refund that fueled their response.
I do agree that you deserve some compensation and for the days involved as well as something for all the inconvenience caused by the delay in baggage arriving. In baggage cases it is the Airline but in your case if it was a TO flight then they are responsible for the entire holiday.
I do hope that you will use HT again as it is a great source of information and advice for many of us who use it. Please try to overlook those comments which have inflamed you and speak to Ros regarding where you stand re the amount of compensation due. I would never accept a first offer in any circumstances and whilst this in your case is ZERO it can only get better.
Good luck!
Sue
unfortunatley for me the comment about lack of space was said to me over the phone when the T.C shop rang me to follow up on my holiday enjoyment... i wish now i had recorded the conversation as it would have had them over a barrel... i think ..they think if they dont respond its all gonna go away... well we saved for a few year for this holiday and im not going down without a fight!
thanks for the support... i'll keep you posted on the out come...
Im sorry if i gave you the impression that i had "lack of space on the plane leads to cases being left behind in writing"... no that was said to me over the phone by a woman at the local Thomas Cook shop... it was the "i have investigated and we feel £75 is fair" that was in writing... it will teach me in future to read through my words before posting.... sorry if i mislead you....
Its amazing what they come up with when Ros gets involved.
The tour operators seem to think that if they ignore you, you'll go away quietly so good for you for pursuing this.
