We went to Beaches Boscobel in Ohio Rios two years ago, it was our third time as we really enjoyed it.
We were advised to be vigilant walking anywhere out of the resort. I think like most places, unless you know the area you have to be on your guard, especially, as we were told, in Jamaica.
The beach was quite small where we were, so didn't do much walking on the beach at night. Neither myself or my family were bitten.

I have been all over Jamacia several times and probably enjoyed Ocho the best. It is easy to have a walk around the local area and there are many things to do.

Negril is fairly quiet with not much access to things to be able to wander off by yourselves. Ocho is safe and you will enjoy it.
