Hi Nellie, we go to Candolim Boys home - details are as follows:

Based opposite Bosio Hospital, Pintos Waddo, Candolim behind Village Panchayat, Candolim. It can be difficult to find as it is up a small road. There is an e-mail address Gaurish7385@yahoo.com. We took a list of requirements from them which are school stationery like text books, notebooks, pens, geometry boxes, annual school fees up to Rs 15000, school uniforms, school shoes with socks, slippers or rainy footwear, school bags, raincoats, umbrellas, underwear, body baniyans, t-shorts for daily use, first aid medicines, bed sheets, towels, toothpaste, soap, toothbrushes.

Hope this helps. There is a paper sign stuck on the telegraph poles at the end of the small road, there is also a small bar/restaurant at the end on the main road where the small road leads off.

Please note everyone, most of this stuff is MASSIVELY cheaper in Goa (Mapusa/Panjim, not Calangute/Candolim, lol), than in the UK, so don't waste your money dragging it out from here.

Does anyone know what Rob is doing, or what has happened to CWT?

Children Walking Tall was removed from the Register of Charities held by the Charities Commission in November 2012. It is not clear whether it was wound up voluntarily or not, nor is there any indication as to what happened to any remaining funds.

it might be cheaper in Goa but it isn't to us as we get all the school/stationery things given to us by a friend who owns a stationery company here (excess stock), also everything else we take out we usually get given.

Good luck to Rob with any new venture. He has changed the lives of so many people. People like him never get the honours do they?

He has a facebook page in his own name, you could try contacting him via that?

Alternatively, he used to be a member here (and on IndiaMike) as Poipleshadow - correct speeling!
So a pm might get through?

Perhaps because nobody has nominated him, Fiona? It's relatively easy to do even if the bureaucratic cogs move very slowly - you'll find further info on how to do it here:

No problem, Fiona, I think that not enough people know that anybody can make a nomination for someone to receive an Honour but if nobody does then the unsung heroes will never get any recognition for what they do. Organisations like the political parties, trade unions, the big charities and professional associations etc are well organised about making nominations but those who are from much smaller organisations or have made a very individual contribution miss out if nobody takes that first step and puts their name forward.

Hi... Rob here... :) Thank you for your kind comments...

After taking a longer than expected break, I was a little 'down in the dumps' I am now getting back on track, I have been taking a back seat and have been helping other charities for the last year and a half. I am currently helping in the wonderful monkey charity http://www.PrimateTrustIndia.org (I did their website) and I have also done a website for International Animal Rescue Goa http://www.internationalanimalrescuegoa.org.in so please if you get a moment do have a look and support them if it's your 'cup of tea', the monkeys are great, real characters :)
Other than that I still continue to help 'my children' when needed and the children often ring me if they are in trouble, just in the last couple of weeks I have got two of them back in to school, hoping they will stay, I also help by 'networking' where I can and basically do as much as possible. The reported from the Goan thought I was 'interesting' and she interviewed me about all my recent charity work and also the monkeys, but only really wrote about my 'CWT' work, I met her again today and there will be a follow up bit on The Primate Trust in the next few weeks, but I think that will obviously focus on John and Jo (as it should). :)
I have decided to start something new and have started but very 'low key' at the moment due to time/energy (I'm not as young as I was 9 years ago - obviously) so I don't think I will be able to make something as ambitious as CWT was, but we will see. I still get people bringing things over for me and I always make sure they get to the children who are in need. On Sunday I gave out health packs in a few slums and hope to gear up to do more work when possible.

CWT was closed about 9 months after I was made redundant, I got in touch with the charity commssion in early Jan/late Dec and they replied

"Removal was on the basis of an online Declaration by the trustees, stating that the charity had fulfilled its purpose, as such no final accounts were submitted to us "

I will follow up again to see if the final accounts have now been posted (I would certainly hope they have), although I have no reason to doubt that the charity was closed correctly.

So that's the news from me... By the way if anyone wants to email me directly I have email accounts ending in .com with hotmail and gmail starting with poipleshadow :)

Also, one of my photos was also chosen to be used on the front cover of a Volunteer Book :) - (bottom left picture), which was nice! :)

Well just a quick up date for everyone, please don't expect 'grand' things, but I have started a new project, very small scale but with the hope of making it bigger and better.. Here is the first preview http://www.poipleshadow.com there are several photos of the work that's been done in the last couple of weeks, hopefully have some more up shortly too. (depends if I go insane first :)
Please spread the word :)
Thanks

As you know I have been following what you are doing just now. Its a shame things ended as they did with CWT but you should be so proud of what you have achieved. What a difference you have made to so many childrens' lives. Good luck with everything you have planned for the future

Good luck with your new project Rob. You will certainly make a difference to more vulnerable/sick/poor children in Goa. Keep up the good work :tup
