Hotel was fantastic, location was a little out of the way (opposite UN building on the East River) but I asked for a corner room and was given the 38th (top) floor we were rewarded with 2 views one of the east river and Pepsi Cola sign and the other had amazing views of the Empire State, Chrysler and Brooklyn Bridge.
All staff were very courteous and polite however we didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food
Onto the city, what an amazing place ! we did everything we wanted to with the exception of ice skating in either Central Park or outside the Rockerfeller.
Some of the touristy things we saw were 'top of the rock' incredible views at night, Ground Zero, walked across Brooklyn Bridge and back, walked to central park and then the full length of that and back, which included crossing it sevral times and getting lost more than once !! lol saw liberty from the Staten Island Ferry.
Rode the subway around 4 or 5 times, Had an 18" pizza (between us) at Lombardi's America's 1st pizza house and it was delicous. On the way up from Little Italy we walked through Greenwich Village and Soho, both very nice, took in the much photographed 'Flat Iron' building and then called into Macy's, which is as described the biggest store in the world !! We didn't find Bloomingdales to be that cheap compared to UK, although they had the best staff out of any of the shops we visited.
Had cheese cake in Juniors as recommeded, one piece of 'Devils food;' was enough for me for 4 days, probably putting back all the calories I had walked off on the trip ! Grand Central is a great place to watch the hussle and bussle of NYC
Overall we loved the place and look forward to going back, were thinking of heading over there for some xmas shopping the next time we go, will definatley be skating then !!!!
Thanks to all members help on here in the run up to our first visit to the big apple !
